Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUJacksonville, FLChris Horton scored a career-high 28 points and the nation’s third-leading rebounder snared 17 errant shots but unfortunately for Austin Peay State University’s basketball team he was the only Gov in double figures in a 80-70 defeat by North Florida, played at the UNF Arena, Wednesday night.

The loss was the Govs second straight and left them 1-3 on the current road swing and 4-7 overall.

APSU Governors Basketball plays North Florida at Dunn Center Wednesday to end 2014

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay hopes to take momentum into 2015 when it plays host to North Florida, 2:00pm, Wednesday, in Dave Aaron Arena.

The New Year’s Eve contest will be APSU’s final of 2014 and the Govs are seeking an uplift after a disappointing pre-Christmas finale at Lipscomb, a 69-63 road loss in a December 21st contest that saw them overcome an 11-point second-half deficit to tie the contest but only falter down the stretch.

Tennessee National Guard Earthquake Exercise a Success

 

Army and Air Guard personnel and assets put to the test in TNCAT14

Tennessee National GuardNashville, TN – Soldiers, Airmen and civilian emergency response personnel throughout the state concluded the TNCAT14 Exercise on June 20th, simulating the Tennessee Military Department’s response to a catastrophic earthquake along the New Madrid Fault.

On June 16th, a simulated 7.7 magnitude earthquake scenario was declared, setting into action requests for military support requests from the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA,) as local authorities in areas across the seismic zone began to test the capabilities of the Military Department.

Tennessee National Guard Soldiers with the 194th Engineer Brigade in Milan, Tenn., train alongside Soldiers from the National Guard Joint Force Headquarters, Directorate of Information Management in Nashville, Tenn., to construct a High Frequency antenna to test remote communications likely to be needed in the event of a major disaster.
