Edelweiss Club of Clarksville establishes endowed scholarship for Austin Peay State University students

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) recently received a donation of $123,000 from the Clarksville Edelweiss Club to create the Edelweiss Club of Clarksville German Endowment. Edelweiss Club President Mary Ann Miner and Carl Eisemann presented the gift to APSU President Dr. Alisa White and retired Lt. Gen. Ronald Bailey, APSU vice president for external affairs, at a signing ceremony on May 10th, 2019.

2016 Clarksville Edelweiss Club Scholarship awarded to APSU student Jillian Vogel

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) student Jillian Vogel, a music major and German minor, was selected to receive the Clarksville Edelweiss Club Scholarship for the 2016-17 academic year.

Vogel was honored during an awards ceremony at the Edelweiss Clubhouse on June 8th, and received a certificate from Bob Perkins, president of the Clarksville Edelweiss Club.

The Clarksville Edelweiss Club’s Oktoberfest begins tonight!

Clarksville, TN – The 32st Annual Oktoberfest brought to you by the Clarksville Edelweiss Club starts tonight, Friday October 5th at 4:00pm and runs through Saturday night at midnight. The Oktoberfest celebration is located at 790 Economy Drive, off of Hwy 76, by I-24’s Exit 11. Load up the car, bring the whole family, and do the chicken dance with a 6′ tall chicken!

Enjoy music by Pros’t and Die Mitternachters. The Schuhplatter & Holzhacker Folk Dancers will be performing several times each night. There are carnival rides for Kids of All Ages. Edelweiss Club holds a Remembrance Ceremony for German POWs at Fort Campbell

 

edelweissclubThe Clarksville Edelweiss Club conducts a solemn duty each year in keeping with German tradition of honoring all deceased soldiers, on November 1st, “All Saints Day” they pay a visit to the POW Cemetery at Fort Campbell for a remembrance ceremony. Fort Campbell is represented by a Post Chaplin, and an official representative is sent the German government.
