101st Airborne Division’s only combatives champ hails from 2nd Brigade Combat Team “Strike”

Fort Campbell, KY – In the past few months, the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division has had a series of wins, including the division’s Soldier of the Year, the adjutant general’s Soldier and Noncommissioned Officer of the Year, and their successful victory over Geronimo at Fort Polk, Louisiana, during their most recent Joint Readiness Training Center rotation. Now they can add another win to their streak.

Spc. Christian L. Nielsen, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd BCT “Strike,” 101st, took home 1st place during the All-Armed Forces Combatives Competition in his respective weight class at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, December 12th.

SSF Submission Academy is offering MMA classes, along with counseling from certified counselors, totally free of cost to those diagnosed with the condition.

Clarksville Sports Festival to offer free day of Sports and Athletics, August 17th

 

Clarksville Sports FestivalClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation will be kicking off its third-annual Clarksville Sports Festival on Saturday, August 17th, at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center located within Liberty Park at 1188 Cumberland Drive, with a variety of sports, athletic and outdoor activities for the entire family.

Clarksville Sports Festival will take place from 10:00am to 3:00pm and is open to all ages. Cost of admission and participation is free.

Ron Dayley has trained fighters in UFC, Strikeforce and other top level professional events

Clarksville, TN – Last month marked the five-year anniversary of the SSF Submission Academy in Clarksville, the only school in town to propel fighters to success in Strikeforce, UFC, King of the Cage, K-1, Pride, and other top level shows. “There’s other gyms in town, but there’s only one fight school,” said Ron Dayley, owner of the academy. “If you want to become a professional or amateur fighter, we’re the only place you can go other than Nashville. In this area, we’re it.” Scientific Street Fighting is a term coined by legendary martial artist Bruce Lee.

Dayley is originally from Washington, D.C. He has managed and trained fighters in Strikeforce, The UFC, XFC, Bodog and other big events. The former professional fighter is licensed in Tennessee by the ISKA and in Kentucky by the KBWA as a referee, trainer, promoter, timekeeper and corner-man. Clarksville Sports FestivalClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation will be kicking off its second-annual Clarksville Sports Festival  on Saturday, March 17th, at the Foy Fitness Center located on the campus of Austin Peay State University, with a variety of sports, athletic and outdoor activities for the entire family.

Clarksville, TN –  The search is on across the country for the 2011 Maxim Hometown Hottie Contest. Clarksville model Katie Nelson is up to the challenge and needs your help to get into round two and beyond.

Katie has always liked to have her picture taken and has been modeling for the past two years. It all started as fun until she was offered a job with Nossi College of Art being the model for the photography class. Here Katie started building her portfolio and doing all different types of shoots, like 50’s glam, old hollywood, fight and sport shoots, and bathing suit/loungerie shoots.
