Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan re-elected Regional Transit Authority chair

 

McMillan: ‘City must take a leading role in regional planning’

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan has been elected to a third term as chair of the Regional Transit Authority Board of Directors.

Wilson County Mayor Randall Hutto was elected vice chair and Paula Mansfield, a governor’s appointee from Rutherford County, was elected secretary for 2017.

The RTA board, created in 1988 to plan and develop a regional transit system, consists of city and county mayors and community leaders from the nine-county Middle Tennessee region.

Annual Speech lists Goals and Achievements

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan delivered her annual “Clarksville: State of the City” address to a group of about 200 civic leaders who gathered Tuesday morning for the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce Power Breakfast.

Highlights included a recap of the City’s major accomplishments in 2016 and a preview of Mayor McMillan’s goals and aspirations for the City in 2017.

Clarksville’s new Park & Ride lot at Exit 11 opens Monday

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – A big, new Park & Ride lot near Exit 11 off Interstate 24 will open Monday to serve local residents, especially those who use the 94X Clarksville Express regional bus service to commute to and from Nashville, TN.

The new lot replaces the Rossview Road Park & Ride lot in the median of I-24 at Exit 8, which will close at the end of the day on Friday, October 7th.

Workers were busy Wednesday putting the finishing touches on the new Clarksville Park & Ride facility at Exit 11 on the east side Interstate 24. TDOT purchased the land and built the lighted lot, which will accommodate more than 200 vehicles. It replaces the Park & Ride at Exit 8, and will be the Clarksville pick up/drop off site for Regional Transit Authority’s Route 94X commuter service to Nashville.

TDOT completes Bridge Project at Exit 8 on Interstate 24 in Montgomery County

 

Tennessee Department of Transportation - TDOTNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation says all roadwork has wrapped up on the State Route 237 widening and I-24 interchange modification project. The newly widened SR 237 is five lanes from I-24 to International Boulevard.

The roadway has dedicated turn lanes and traffic signals for vehicles entering and exiting the interstate or the proposed industrial development site of Hankook Tire.

TDOT issues update on Bridge Project at I-24 at Exit 8 in Montgomery County

 

Tennessee Department of Transportation - TDOTNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation says the end is in sight for the SR 237 widening and I-24 interchange modification project at Exit 8, Rossview Road in Montgomery County.

The $12.9 million project, which was let to construction in October 2014, is currently on schedule to be completed by the end of May 2016.

Tennessee Department of TransportationClarksville, TN – Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) contract crews will close a short section of Interstate 24 East and State Route 237 (Rossview Road) in Clarksville for bridge construction. During the closures, eastbound interstate traffic will use the on- and off-ramps at SR 237.

The work is scheduled for Saturday, July 25th, from 7:00am to 3:00pm – I-24 eastbound only and SR 237 bridge over I-24 will be closed.
