Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds used a familiar mix of dominant pitching and the long ball in a 4-1 win over the New Orleans Baby Cakes in front of 7,853 fans at First Tennessee Park Friday night.
Sounds (8-11) starter Paul Blackburn cruised through five shutout innings and was backed by home runs from Mark Canha and Matt Olson in his first win of the season.
Blackburn allowed only two hits on the night – a double in the first, and a single in the fourth that was erased by a double play. The right-hander took a comebacker off the left leg in the fifth but stayed in the game. He was able to finish the inning but threw only 58 pitches on the night.
Nashville, TN – Sonny Gray struck out seven batters over six shutout innings in the Nashville Sounds’ 9-2 win in front of 9,291 fans at First Tennessee Park Thursday night.
Pitching for the first time in a Sounds uniform, the Nashville native cruised through his six frames, allowing only two hits along the way. The right-hander did not walk a batter in the winning effort.
Franklin Barreto didn’t waste any time giving Gray and the Sounds (7-11) an early lead. The 21-year-old led off the bottom of the first inning with his team-leading fourth homer of the season.
Nashville, TN – Franklin Barreto’s RBI triple scored Josh Rodriguez in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Nashville Sounds a 6-5 walk-off win over the Iowa Cubs in front of 8,002 fans Thursday night at First Tennessee Park.
With the game tied 5-5 going to the bottom of the ninth, Rodriguez lined a base hit up the middle to start the rally against Iowa reliever Gerardo Concepcion. After a failed bunt attempt, the 20-year-old Barreto lined a 0-2 pitch to the gap in right-center. Rodriguez raced around from first to score the winning run.
Albuquerque, NM – Despite stringing together a five-run seventh-inning rally to go ahead of the Albuquerque Isotopes Friday night at Isotopes Park, the Nashville Sounds were unable to hold off the ‘Topes final charge, losing 9-7 for the team’s sixth consecutive loss.
Sounds reliever Brent Leach (0-2) entered the game in the eighth inning with Nashville leading 6-5. The right-handed pitcher allowed a single to his first batter before recording two outs. A single from former Sound Tony Gwynn Jr. put runners on the corners for the ‘Topes and ended Leach’s night.
Nashville, TN – Khris Davis’ three-run, seventh-inning homer propelled the Nashville Sounds to a come-from-behind 6-5 victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes on Monday evening at Greer Stadium in the opener of a four-game series.
The victory was the fourth in the last five games for Nashville (37-66). Sounds batters rapped out 12 hits on the night but also struck out 15 times.

Albuquerque, NM – The Nashville Sounds were handed a 7-3 defeat by the Albuquerque Isotopes in the finale of a four-game series on Tuesday afternoon at Isotopes Park.
After winning the opener on Saturday, Nashville dropped to 13-30 on the road after dropping the next three games to lose the series to the Isotopes. The Sounds held a lead in all four games.

Abuquerque, NM – The Nashville Sounds mounted a furious ninth-inning rally in an attempt to come back from a seven-run deficit but ultimately fell short in an 11-9 loss to the Albuquerque Isotopes on Monday evening at Isotopes Park.
The defeat marked the tenth time this season that the Sounds (31-47) have surrendered a double-digit run total; Nashville has plated ten runs or more only twice.
Trailing 11-4 entering the ninth, Nashville plated five in the inning and got the potential tying run to the plate before Isotopes reliever Wil Ledezma retired pinch-hitter Jay Gibbons on a game-ending flyout to the warning track in right field.
Albuquerque, NM – Starting pitcher Stephen Fife threw seven scoreless innings of three-hit ball as the Nashville Sounds dropped an 8-1 defeat to the Albuquerque Isotopes on Friday night in the opener of a four-game series at Isotopes Park.
Holding the Sounds to one hit through the first five innings and retiring a stretch of 11 straight at one point in the contest, Fife (3-2) set a season-high with seven strikeouts for the victory and extended his scoreless streak to 13 innings over his last two starts.
Nashville Takes Three Of Four From Division Leaders In Homestand
Nashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds’ attempt to record a sweep of division-leading Omaha was thwarted as on Thursday evening as Nashville fell 3-1 to the Storm Chasers at Greer Stadium.
Nashville (8-18) took three of the four during the series, however, and have won four of their last five contests as they prepare to embark upon their third road trip of the season.
