The UT-TU game is the sixth of seven home tilts in UT’s first 10 scheduled contests. It also is the third phase of a four-game home stand.

The Lady Vols remain undefeated after romping past Alabama State, 104-51, on Sunday afternoon in Knoxville. The triumph was Tennessee’s fifth at home this season and marked the sixth time in eight games in 2017-18 that the Lady Vols have limited an opponent to 60 or fewer points.

Troy, meanwhile, brings a two-game winning streak into Wednesday’s contest.

Tennessee Invests $4 Million in Race to the Top Funds

Tennessee Department of EducationNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Education has pledged nearly $4 million in Race to the Top funds to pay for eight leadership development programs, which will impact future school leaders in more than 20 districts across the state.

The TN LEAD grants were awarded to organizations in partnership with one or more school systems, to either develop or replicate programs aimed at increasing leader effectiveness and improving student outcomes. National Guard responds to Hurricane Irene

 

More than 2,000 Soldiers and Airmen move to East Coast

Tennessee Military DepartmentNashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Major General Max Haston, Tennessee’s Adjutant General, announced today that more than 2,000 Tennessee National Guard troops will respond to East Coast states to assist in rescue and recovery operations in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.

“Tennessee received a request through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact for troops and equipment for rescue and recovery operations in the wake of Hurricane Irene,” said MG Haston.  “The Tennessee Army and Air National Guard stand ready to assist however needed.”

APSU Hall of Fame coach Bill Dupes dies at 81

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsSweetwater, TN – Former Austin Peay State University football coach William D. “Bill” Dupes, age 81, of Sweetwater, Tennessee, passed away, Saturday, January 8th, 2010, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.

Vistation will begin at noon, Wednesday, at Sweetwater’s First United Methodist Church, with a service beginning at 2:00pm.
