Nashville Predators win thriller against Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The teams with the two best records in the NHL squared off tonight in Smashville, and Ryan Johansen led the way in a 3-2 victory for the Predators.

With Viktor Arvidsson and P.K Subban out of the lineup for Nashville, other players have had to step up their game, and that’s exactly what coach Peter Laviolette is getting from his squad.

Tampa Bay got on the board first when Victor Hedman beat Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne for an early 1-0 Lightning lead.  Rinne made 29 saves on the night and has a 9-0-1 record against the southern Florida boys.

Nashville Predators struggle on home ice, lose to the Edmonton Oilers 5-3

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN -The Nashville Predators continue to struggle on home ice, as they lose to the visiting Edmonton Oilers, 5-3, at Bridgestone Arena.  All three Nashville losses have come on home ice.

Filip Forsbergs sixth career hat trick couldn’t help the Predators overcome the penalties and an aggressive Edmonton frontline, including NHL superstar, Connor McDavid.  This is Nashville’s rirst loss to Edmonton in their past 14 meetings.

The Oilers struck first on a goal from Drake Caggiula to lead 1-0 to end the first period.  Then Leon Draisaitl gave Edmonton a 2-0 lead just five minutes into the second period, beating Predators goalie, Juuse Saros.

Nashville Predators have little trouble with the Buffalo Sabres with 4-0 win

Nashville PredatorsClarksville, TN – The Nashville Predators continue to roll through the opposition with a convincing win over the Buffalo Sabres tonight, 4-0. The win completes a sweep of their three game road trip, and Pekka Rinne wins his 11th straight in goal.  Nashville defeats their former assistant coach Phil Housley, who is in his first season as the head coach of the Sabres.

Buffalo started fast, controlling the offense to begin the affair, outshooting the Predators 13-10 in the opening frame.  Buffalo would outshoot Nashville on the night, 35-32.

The problem was, they couldn’t break through the leading candidate for the Vezina trophy, Pekka Rinne, who had 35 saves on the night and recorded another shut-out.
