Clarksville Police report 16 year old boy abandoned on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard by his Mother

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On September 14th, 2012 around 7:45pm, Clarksville Police officers were called to a business at the 2500 Block of Wilma Rudolph Boulevard about a 16 year old who had been abandoned by his mother.

The 16 year old told officers he travelled with his mother from Alabama to Clarksville to visit the mother’s boyfriend in Woodlawn. She had been consuming alcohol as she drove. She rear-ended a vehicle on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard and fled from the scene.

The teenager repeatedly told his mother to pull over and stop but she refused. When the vehicle slowed for a red-light at Forest Hills Road, the teenager was able to exit the vehicle.

His mother yelled for him to get back in the car but he refused. She cursed at him, got back on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard and left him behind.

Officers were able to contact the mother on the phone around 11:30pm. Officers were told she was in Alabama and would be back to retrieve her son, but would not give a date or time.

She also would not provide any information on the incident which occurred on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard and resulted in her son being left in Clarksville. The lead is Officer Josh Godwin.

Warrants for Child Abuse/Neglect and Reckless Endangerment have been taken out on Cheryl Simpson (W/F, DOB: 1/15/70; Given Address: 203 Tanner Point Street, New Market, Alabama).

The 16 year olds father was coming from Ohio to pick him up.
