APSU Governors Basketball hits free throws down the stretch to seal 88-83 win over Eastern Illinois Panthers

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – Ed Dyson recorded his career’s first double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds and Travis Betran added 23 points, including four key free throws in the final 30 seconds, to lift Austin Peay State University to an 88-83 win against Eastern Illinois, Thursday night, in Ohio Valley Conference play in the Dunn Center.

Kenwood Lady Knights Charge Past Northeast in District 10-AAA quarterfinals, 52-45

 

Kenwood High SchoolClarksville, TN – The Kenwood Lady Knights fended off a late rally to win their District 10-AAA tournament quarterfinal match up against the Northeast Lady Eagles, 52-45.

The Lady Knights charged to a solid lead and held it comfortably for three periods. However, nine turnovers in the last period gave the Lady Eagles a chance to rally late in the fourth. The Lady Eagles made three, 3-pointers in the last 89 seconds of the game to get within six points of the Lady Knights. But the lead the Lady Knights had established held for the win.

National Corvette Museum holds conference on Sinkhole Repair and Car Recovery

 

National Corvette MuseumBowling Green, KY – On Wednesday, February 12th, a giant sinkhole collapsed inside the Skydome area of the National Corvette Museum. Eight Corvettes fell into the sinkhole and were damage in the incident.

Today, Friday, February 13th, the Museum provided an update on the status of the sinkhole. Mike Murphy of Scott, Murphy and Daniel Construction led the conference.

APSU Baseball opens season at home hosting Iowa this weekend

Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – APSU will host Iowa in a three-game series beginning Friday at Raymond C. Hand Park.

The Govs return just two defensive starters from last season’s record-breaking squad, but they return four starting pitchers from that squad.

Austin Peay State University to host 8th Annual Spring Dance Concert

 

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Last fall, Marcus Hayes, Austin Peay State University associate professor of dance, traveled to Colombia to study that country’s folk dances. He spent a week in the South American nation, traveling to museums and dance centers, and he was struck to discover that many of the dances had their origins in Africa.

“It went even further than I thought,” he said. “Because of the colonization of South America and the introduction of slavery, West African dance is infused in Latin American dances.”
