The Govs are 6-3 overall, 1-0 in the OVC, after falling to 5-2 to Middle Tennessee in Thursday non-conference action.

Junior Aleksas Tverijonas remained unbeaten at No. 3 singles, but juniors Dimitar Ristovski and Iago Seffrin dropped their first doubles match of the campaign, ending an 8-0 start to the season.

Belmont – who Austin Peay defeated to win the 2013 OVC Men’s Tennis Tournament in the last meeting between the two sides – is 3-8 overall but defeated Tennessee State, Tuesday, to snap a five-match losing streak. Mauricio Antun leads the Bruins with a 7-4 mark at No. 1 singles.

Tennessee State is 0-6, with their loss to Belmont their only conference blemish to this point.

The Govs combined for a 4-0 mark last season against this weekend’s opponents. Austin Peay won an April 6th doubleheader, 4-0 in non-conference and 5-0 in OVC play, and defeated Belmont 6-1 on April 7th, two weeks before their 4-1 win in the OVC title match.

Austin Peay plays three OVC matches next week. The regularly-scheduled contests against Eastern Illinois (1:00pm, March 29th) and SIU Edwardsville (10:00am, March 30th) go on as planned, with Austin Peay adding a make-up date with Tennessee Tech (1:00pm, March 27th).
