Austin Peay State University to hold 31st annual Percussion Ensemble Halloween Concert October 30th

Austin Peay State University - APSU - logoClarksville, TN – Don’t be afraid to come to the 31st annual Austin Peay State University Percussion Ensemble Halloween Concert. Bring all your fears and phobias, and let us scare them out of you!

Two performances are set for Friday, October 30th at 6:00pm and 8:00pm in the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall in the Music/Mass Communications Building on the University campus.

Admission is two cans of food, donated to Loaves & Fishes soup kitchen, or $3.00.

This year’s program opens with African Welcome Piece featuring the Scream Their Heads Off Vocal Ensemble. There are exciting arrangements of Prokofiev’s “Dance of the Knights,” Debussy’s “Clair De Lune,” Mahler’s “Adagio,” Sibelius’ “Finlandia” and Berlioz’s “March to the Scaffold,” featuring the Blow Their Heads Off Brass Band.

There’s even music from the movies “Mission Impossible” and “Beetlejuice!” Against better judgment, other pieces will most certainly feature boomwhackers and garbage cans, with special guest appearances by noted percussionists, Chris Brooks and Chris Crockarell.

As usual, the hall will be festooned in the grandest of Halloween décor. There will be special lighting design and a live video feed will be thrown up on the back wall. Meanwhile, the entire ensemble will be clad in the latest of Halloween fashion.

Tickets are available now in the APSU music office. Get your tickets sooner rather than later, as this concert tends to sell out ahead of time. For more information, contact Michelle Fraley at 931.221.7818.
