Carbondale, IL – Weather conspired to shorten the Saluki Invitational to a one-day, 36-hole event, but the alteration to the schedule did nothing to deter from Austin Peay State University women’s golf from putting together yet another solid outing.

The Govs put together a stand-out second round to take third overall; after opening with a 323 in round one, Austin Peay’s 306 in round two was the best of the afternoon and the second-best of the 36-hole tournament.
IUPUI, which posted an opening-round 303, took the team title (303-314—617), followed by host Southern Illinois (624); Lindenwood (637) was fourth, with Navy and Fort Wayne tied for fifth at 641 each.
Junior Ashton Goodley‘s 152 (78-74) placed her seventh, her third top-10 of the campaign and first of the spring season. Her five birdies led the Govs, who carded a tournament-high 15 birdies as a group, while her 2.88 stroke average on par-3 holes was fifth among all competitors.
Junior Reagan Greene and sophomore Meghann Stamps also put themselves comfortably inside the top-20, albeit in different ways. Greene’s opening-round 77 paced her to a 157 (77-80) and a tie for 13th, while Stamps rallied with a final-round 75 for a 158 (83-75), aided by a team-high 22 pars.
Rounding out the day for the Govs were strong showings from senior AnnaMichelle Moore (86-77—163; t-25th) and junior Taylor Goodley (85-83—168; t-48th).
The Govs return to action next weekend at the EKU Colonel Classic in Richmond, Kentucky their penultimate regular season tournament.
