Richmond, KY – Austin Peay State University women’s golf wrapped a week defined by battling—the elements and the course—with a tie for eighth at the EKU Colonel Classic at the University Club in Arlington.

The Govs shot 617 for the weekend (308-309), defeating both Ohio Valley Conference foes Belmont (621) and Tennessee Tech (632) and equaling Ohio for eighth. Eastern Kentucky and Xavier tied for the team lead with a 595; the Musketeers won a team playoff for the championship.
Sophomore Meghann Stamps made a move on the final day, moving up nine spots to tie junior Ashton Goodley for 20th with a two-round 152; Stamps followed a 77 with a 75, mirroring Goodley’s rounds.
Junior Taylor Goodley made a big push on the final day, equaling her sister with a final-round 77 and finishing with an even-par 5.00 average on par-5 holes, one shot behind Ashton’s team-best 4.88 average. She finished with a two-round 160 (83-77), between junior Reagan Greene (74-81—155) and senior AnnaMichelle Moore (82-80—162) on the team leaderboard.
The Govs will compete in their final tune-up ahead of the 2018 OVC Women’s Golf Championships next week at the Murray State Invitational at Miller Golf Course.
