Malibu, CA – Lidia Yanes Garcia, of Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s tennis team, fell in the first round of the Oracle ITA Masters, Thursday, September 20th at Pepperdine University.
Yanes Garcia teamed up with Belmont’s Hendrik Inno in the mixed doubles competition, but narrowly fell (6-4) to Michaela Bayerlova (Washington State) and Sven Lah (Baylor).

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s soccer team looks to remain atop the Ohio Valley Conference standings as they travel to Illinois for two road matches against SIU Edwardsville, 7:00pm, Friday, September 21st and Eastern Illinois, 1:00pm, Sunday, September 23rd.
The Govs (6-2-1, 1-0-1 OVC) currently sit atop the Ohio Valley Conference standings with four points from their opening weekend (Draw vs Belmont, win vs Tennessee Tech).
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee unemployment rate remained near historic low levels in August, despite a slight increase, according to the latest statistics released today by Governor Bill Haslam and Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips.
The preliminary, seasonally adjusted statewide unemployment rate for August was 3.6 percent, just 0.1 of a percentage point higher than it was in July. Prior to August, Tennessee’s unemployment rate remained at 3.5 percent for three consecutive months.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team opens defense of its 2017 Ohio Valley Conference regular-season title when it opens its 2018 league slate with a 6:30pm, Friday, September 21st contest at Southeast Missouri and an 11:00am, Saturday, September 22nd affair at UT Martin.
Saturday’s contest at UT Martin precedes the Governors football game against the Skyhawks. Fans are invited to join the Governors volleyball team at Skyhawk Fieldhouse for an 11:00am contest that is free to the public.
Fort Campbell, KY – On Saturday, September 22nd, 2018 Fort Campbell will hold the annual Retiree Appreciation Day beginning at 8:00am.
This event is free to enter and open to all retirees and their Families. The Retiree Appreciation Day will be held at the Soldier Support Center located at 2702 Michigan Avenue, Fort Campbell, KY.
Retirees are an important part of the Fort Campbell community, as such the installation’s Retirement and Separation Services will host an annual appreciation day specifically designed to benefit retirees and their Families.

Knoxville, TN – Tennessee Football will open Southeastern Conference play under the lights at Neyland Stadium on Saturday night as Florida comes to town for a clash between SEC East rivals.
Kickoff for Saturday’s contest is slated for 6:00pm CT on ESPN with Adam Amin (play-by-play) and Rod Gilmore (analyst) calling the action in the booth while Quint Kessenich will be reporting from the sidelines. Vol Network radio affiliates will have a live audio broadcast with Bob Kesling, Tim Priest and Brent Hubbs. Sirius (Channel 103) and XM satellite radio (Channel 191) will also carry the game.
Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS)
Montgomery County, TN – Through a partnership between the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) and the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS), local students are pursuing new, innovative career-readiness pathways this school year.
The Early Technical College at TCAT is a unique, hands-on learning experience that allows students a no-cost opportunity to work towards an industry certification while also completing the necessary high school courses for graduation in the state of Tennessee.
Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT)
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reports that in Montgomery County on SR 374 (Warfield Boulevard) there will be widening work from South of Dunbar Cave Road to West of Stokes Road from 9:00am until 3:30pm, Thursday, September 20th and Tuesday, September 25th.
There will be intermittent road closures on Warfield Boulevard, between Dunbar Cave Road and Stokes Road, for pre-split blasting. All traffic will be halted during the blasting process until all debris is removed from roadway.
Clarksville, TN – On Saturday, October 6th, 2018 at 12:00pm, Clarksville Civic Groups partner up to hold a “Meet the Candidates Forum” at G’s Pancake House Restaurant.
The Coffee Party of Clarksville, Tennessee in partnership with the Clarksville-Montgomery County NAACP, the Clarksville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and the Clarksville – Montgomery County, League Of Voter Empowerment (L.O.V.E.) have partnered up to host this event.

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) football team begins its quest to repeat as the Sgt. York Trophy winner when it travels to UT Martin in its first Ohio Valley Conference matchup of 2018.
The Governors (2-1) set program records in points (78), touchdowns (11) and yards of offense (758) in their 78-40 victory against Morehead State last weekend.
