APSU Women’s Tennis’ Lidia Yanes Garcia loses at Oracle ITA Masters

APSU Women's TennisMalibu, CA –  Lidia Yanes Garcia, of Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s tennis team, fell in the first round of the Oracle ITA Masters, Thursday, September 20th at Pepperdine University.

Yanes Garcia teamed up with Belmont’s Hendrik Inno in the mixed doubles competition, but narrowly fell (6-4) to Michaela Bayerlova (Washington State) and Sven Lah (Baylor).

APSU Soccer - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s soccer team looks to remain atop the Ohio Valley Conference standings as they travel to Illinois for two road matches against SIU Edwardsville, 7:00pm, Friday, September 21st and Eastern Illinois, 1:00pm, Sunday, September 23rd.

The Govs (6-2-1, 1-0-1 OVC) currently sit atop the Ohio Valley Conference standings with four points from their opening weekend (Draw vs Belmont, win vs Tennessee Tech).

Tennessee Unemployment Remains Near Historic Low Levels

Tennessee State GovernmentNashville, TN – The Tennessee unemployment rate remained near historic low levels in August, despite a slight increase, according to the latest statistics released today by Governor Bill Haslam and Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Burns Phillips.

The preliminary, seasonally adjusted statewide unemployment rate for August was 3.6 percent, just 0.1 of a percentage point higher than it was in July. Prior to August, Tennessee’s unemployment rate remained at 3.5 percent for three consecutive months.

Austin Peay State University Volleyball travels to Southeast Missouri, UT Martin this weekend

APSU Women's VolleyballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team opens defense of its 2017 Ohio Valley Conference regular-season title when it opens its 2018 league slate with a 6:30pm, Friday, September 21st contest at Southeast Missouri and an 11:00am, Saturday, September 22nd affair at UT Martin.

Saturday’s contest at UT Martin precedes the Governors football game against the Skyhawks. Fans are invited to join the Governors volleyball team at Skyhawk Fieldhouse for an 11:00am contest that is free to the public.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee Football will open Southeastern Conference play under the lights at Neyland Stadium on Saturday night as Florida comes to town for a clash between SEC East rivals.

Kickoff for Saturday’s contest is slated for 6:00pm CT on ESPN with Adam Amin (play-by-play) and Rod Gilmore (analyst) calling the action in the booth while Quint Kessenich will be reporting from the sidelines. Vol Network radio affiliates will have a live audio broadcast with Bob Kesling, Tim Priest and Brent Hubbs. Sirius (Channel 103) and XM satellite radio (Channel 191) will also carry the game.

Clarksville-Montgomery County area TDOT Work starting September 20th, 2018

Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reports that in Montgomery County on SR 374 (Warfield Boulevard) there will be widening work from South of Dunbar Cave Road to West of Stokes Road from 9:00am until 3:30pm, Thursday, September 20th and Tuesday, September 25th.

There will be intermittent road closures on Warfield Boulevard, between Dunbar Cave Road and Stokes Road, for pre-split blasting. All traffic will be halted during the blasting process until all debris is removed from roadway.

The Governors (2-1) set program records in points (78), touchdowns (11) and yards of offense (758) in their 78-40 victory against Morehead State last weekend.
