The review included the financial statements of the entire City, which includes City general, Clarksville Gas & Water, CDE Lightband, and the City’s related entities of Ajax Turner Senior Center, Customs House Museum and the Natural Gas Acquisition Corporation.

“Crosslin has completed the audit of the financial statements of the City of Clarksville … and we have issued our unmodified report thereon,” Crosslin said in its formal report.

The “unmodified report,” issued for the sixth consecutive year, indicates that Crosslin found the financial statements prepared by the City are fair, accurate and in compliance with Government Auditing Standards. The audit report included no findings of material weakness or deficiencies, for the fifth consecutive year.

“This essentially is an ‘A’ report card for us,” Clarksville Chief Financial Officer Laurie Matta said. “It shows that finance departments across the City, including Gas & Water and CDE Lightband, have done a great job.”

Crosslin’s “Independent Auditor’s Report” offers this key passage:

“In our opinion, based on our audit … the financial statements … present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the governmental activities, the business-type activities, the aggregate discretely presented component units, each major fund and the respective changes in financial position and, where applicable, cash flows thereof, and the budgetary comparison for the General Fund in the year ended in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States.”

City Finance officials also expect the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report to earn the General Finance Officers Association Award of Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fifth consecutive year.
