A total of five teams will be in attendance of the Murray State Open.

Austin Peay State University will join OVC foes Tennessee Tech and UT Martin, along with host Murray State and Bethel in the first-ever Murray State Open. The last time the Governors ran at the Miller Memorial Golf Course was back in 2015 at the OVC Championships, where the Govs placed tenth.

Emmaculate Kiplagat received OVC Female Runner of the Week honors for her previous performance at the Fast Cats Classic. Kiplagat finished second among Division I runners with a top-five finish among individuals with a season’s best 18:37.

APSU head coach Valerie Brown gave Kiplagat high praise about last week’s performance and being one of the leaders for this team.

“Emma has done a great job, along with Molly [Howard], leading our group and stepping up when needed,” Brown said. “This week, we will send out Emma ahead of the rest of our ladies based off of how she ran last week. We cannot wait to see how she can challenge the others at the top of the OVC.

“This course is as close as you would get to the actual OVC course with a few hills. We simply want to be competitive and match up against some OVC schools and talent before getting to the OVC Championships. Preparation is key, and being at your best when it matters most.”
