APSU to host OVC Cross-Country Championships

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) will host the 2020 Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Championships, Monday afternoon, in Clarksville.

APSU is hosting the event for the first time since 2006. Due to COVID-19 Coronavirus protocols, there will be no fans permitted at the Championship this year.

Originally scheduled for November, the event was delayed to the spring. OVC cross country teams ran an abbreviated season in January/February.

Ron Morton continues tradition of transformational giving at Austin Peay State University

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – For years, Ron Morton has been one of the most benevolent donors in the sphere of Austin Peay State University (APSU).

A 1970 graduate of Austin Peay State University and cross-country student-athlete, Morton’s generosity began in earnest in 2012 when he endowed the Ronald L. Morton Scholarship Fund benefiting business majors in Austin Peay State University’s Olympic sports.

To date, more than 20 Morton Scholarship endowments have been awarded by Ron and his wife Andrea to aid APSU student-athletes, directly impacting sports with fewer available athletic scholarships.

Austin Peay State University Athletics receive sterling marks on Women in Sport Report Card

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsMinneapolis, MN –  Out of 352 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I universities, Austin Peay State University athletics ranked third overall with a grade of 77.8 percent and were 1 of 18 universities to receive an “A” grade on the 2019-20 Women in College Coaching Report Card (WCCRC) presented by The Tucker Center for Research on Girls & Women in Sport.

Austin Peay State University offers nine women’s sports, and seven of those teams are coached by women: Valerie Brown (Cross Country, Indoor Track & Field and Outdoor Track & Field), Jessica Combs (Women’s Golf), Naomi Kolarova (Women’s Soccer), Taylor Mott (Volleyball and Beach Volleyball), and Kassie Stanfill (Softball).
