APSU Women’s Cross Country open season in Nashville at Belmont Opener

 

APSU Women's Cross CountryNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s cross country team opened the 2019 season with strong runs in the 5 kilometer race at the Belmont Opener, Friday evening.

In her first race since the 2017 season, Emmaculate Kiplagat was the first Governor to cross the finish line recording a 22nd-place finish in 19:40.48.

APSU Women’s Cross country begins season at Belmont Opener

 

APSU Women's Track and FieldClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s cross country will begin its 2019 season Friday, August 30th, as the Governors travel to Nashville for the Belmont Opener.

The 5-kilometer race will take place at Percy Warner Park and is scheduled to start around 5:00pm.

Austin Peay State University has record breaking 32 Student Athletes earn OVC Academic Medal of Honor

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) student-athletes’ record-breaking year academically continued Monday as 32 Governors received the Ohio Valley Conference’s Academic Medal of Honor.

The 32 Austin Peay student-athletes awarded the 2018-19 OVC Academic Medal of Honor each carried a perfect 4.0 grade-point average for the academic year. The award recognized those conference student-athletes who achieve the highest GPA in a conference-sponsored sport. The league recognized a record 268 recipients of the Academic Medal of Honor in 2018-19.

Austin Peay State University student-athletes average 3.0 GPA for a record fourth straight semester

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) student-athletes posted a departmental grade-point average of 3.0 or better for a program-record fourth consecutive semester finishing the Spring 2019 semester with a 3.096 mark.

A department-record 70 percent of Austin Peay’s 289 varsity student-athletes earned academic honors for the spring semester. The last eight semesters dating back to Fall 2015 have yielded eight of the top-10 semester GPA’s since tracking data began in 1993. For just the fourth time, more than 100 Govs earned a spot on the Dean’s List, with 48 posting perfect 4.0 GPA’s for the semester.

APSU’s Doug Molnar will not return as head coach of Track and Field, Cross Country

 

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison announced Tuesday, May 14th, 2019 that Doug Molnar will not return as the APSU’s head track and field and cross country coach for the 2019-20 season.  Molnar’s contract will not be renewed. Molnar has been with the programs since 2005.

“I would like to thank Doug for his 14 years of leadership and commitment to Austin Peay Athletics,” Harrison said. “The Austin Peay track and cross country programs have taken a positive step during his tenure and is in a better position in the Ohio Valley Conference than he found it.
