OVC will broadcast contests on ESPN+ as part of new ESPN rights deal

Ohio Valley Conference - OVCBrentwood, TN – The Ohio Valley Conference and ESPN have reached an extension of their media rights agreement, which will now include a minimum of 600 conference events on ESPN+, the recently launched multi-sport, direct-to-consumer subscription streaming service from The Walt Disney Company Direct-to-Consumer & International segment and ESPN.

The first OVC events to be broadcast on ESPN+ will be two football games on Thursday, August 30th, 2018. In total, 36 OVC football games will be streamed on ESPN+ this season. Another eight games will be streamed live on ESPN3 as part of the league’s Game of the Week package.

APSU names Mike Minyard as Assistant Director of Athletics for External Affairs

“I am grateful for the opportunity being provided by Ryan Ivey and the search committee to join the Austin Peay family,” Minyard said. “I am humbled to serve the institution and its student-athletes, coaches, staff, alumni and student body. This campus and the people on it have an energy and enthusiasm that is unmatched. Together, I believe we can build a championship culture with the support of a growing fan base that will make us the premier athletic department in the Ohio Valley Conference and beyond.”

Tennessee Vols takes on Presbyterian at Thompson-Boling Arena, Tuesday

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee welcomes Presbyterian to Rocky Top for a Tuesday night contest at Thompson-Boling Arena. Tip-off is slated for 6:00pm CT.

Tuesday’s game will not be televised, but can be viewed online through SEC Network + on WatchESPN and the WatchESPN app. Darren Headrick (play-by-play), Steve Hamer (analyst) and Maddy Glab (reporter) have the call.

Fans can also listen live on their local Vol Network affiliate to catch Bob Kesling and Bert Bertelkamp describing the action.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball lose in overtime to Liberty Flames 79-73 at ESPN BracketBusters

 

Austin Peay State University GovernorsLynchburg, VA – Overtime and Austin Peay State University basketball just don’t mix.

After Travis Betran’s long three pointer tied the game and the Govs defense denied Liberty at regulation’s end, the Governors year-long free-throw shooting woes caught up with them in overtime as Liberty held off APSU, 79-73, in the ESPN Ramada Worldwide BracketBusters contest at the Vines Center.
