Tennessee Invests $4 Million in Race to the Top Funds
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Education has pledged nearly $4 million in Race to the Top funds to pay for eight leadership development programs, which will impact future school leaders in more than 20 districts across the state.
The TN LEAD grants were awarded to organizations in partnership with one or more school systems, to either develop or replicate programs aimed at increasing leader effectiveness and improving student outcomes. Dan Billingsley to serve as VP/senior Credit Analyst and Derrick Quarles will serve as Banking Officer
Hopkinsville, KY – Planters Bank announces the addition of Dan Billingsley as vice president/senior credit analyst and Derrick Quarles as banking officer.
Billingsley brings more than 20 years of banking experience to Planters, where he will manage the credit department. He most recently worked as senior portfolio manager for commercial banking at First Tennessee Bank.

Nashville, TN – Austin Peay men’s baskeball coach Dave Loos was one of six midstate Division I basketball coaches who spoke Tuesday morning at Coaches vs. Cancer Basketball Tipoff Breakfast, held in Allen Arena on the Lipscomb campus.
Loos, Belmont’s Rick Byrd, Middle Tennessee’s Kermit Davis, Tennessee State coach John Cooper and Vanderbilt coach Kevin Stallings spoke to nearly 200 patrons about the upcoming basketball season. Radio and TV personality George Plaster served as emcee of the event.

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Academy, a Pre-K through 12th grade private college preparatory school is proud to announce, Malcolm & Martin Smith’s recognition as finalists for the 2011 TSSAA Class A Mr. Basketball Award. This award is presented to the top girls and boys in five classifications of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association prior to the championship awards for each class.
This is the first time in TSSAA history that twins have been chosen as finalists for this award. There have been only a few other times that two finalists have come from the same school. This is a true honor for Clarksville Academy, the Smith brothers, and our team.
Clarksville, TN – Wednesday, November 10th at 2:00pm, on the Clarksville Academy Campus, in the Miller Activities Center Gym, Martin and Malcolm Smith will officially sign with David Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. Both Martin and Malcolm were part of the Class 10A State Championship team for 2010.
Malcolm Smith as named Mr. Basketball during last season. Both boys have extraordinary stats from last season and we expect great things from both this season. Representatives from both Clarksville Academy and David Lipscomb will be present. This event is open to the public.
