City of Clarksville honors Agencies that fight Homelessness

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts and the Office of Housing and Community Development Office paused Thursday to honor Clarksville’s service providers who fight homelessness and hunger.

“You are special folks, the leaders who step up in our community every day to work on the front lines in service to those who need a place to stay, nutritious food, medical care, and shelter from harm,” Mayor Pitts said. “I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the work you do to help our people and make Clarksville such a caring community.”

Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts and Keith Lampkin, director of the Clarksville Office of Housing & Community Development, present a Certificate of Appreciation to the the Salvation Army on Thursday at a breakfast  to honor  Clarksville’s service providers who fight homelessness and hunger. Also honored were Urban Ministries; Manna Café; The Salvation Army and Serenity House; Flourishing Families; the Community Action Agency; and the Green Hill Development Corporation.

City of Clarksville partners with Flourishing Families on Home

 

Collaboration provides needed transitional housing resource

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville and Flourishing Families have added another link in Clarksville’s chain of social services that helps people in need.

Flourishing Families opened the doors Wednesday to a new transitional home to a family of five. The small but well-kept home at 451 Martin Street. was donated to the non-profit organization by the City of Clarksville.

Flourishing Families to hold 3rd Annual “Christmas in Clarksville” December 21st

 

Providing hot meals and gifts to low-income families with children.

Flourishing FamiliesClarksville, TN – Flourishing Families will host its 3rd Annual “Christmas in Clarksville” event on Wednesday, December 21st, from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Free and open to the public, it will take place in the Foy Fitness Center of Austin Peay State University.
 
The purpose of the event is to provide Christmas gifts and hot meals to low income families with children.

Clarksville’s LEAP Organization Celebrates Youth Development Day

 

LEAP OrganizationClarksville, TN – Saturday, January 31st, 2015 marked the 2nd Annual LEAP Gala Celebrating Youth Development at the Emmanuel Family Life Center. Clarksville  Mayor Kim McMillan issued a proclamation with was delivered by City Councilwoman Wanda Smith designating January 31st Youth Development Day and urging those is the Clarksville community to take time on this day to acknowledge the work of the LEAP Organization in making a positive impact on youth in our community.

The Gala opened with a string musical ensemble by the Brio Strings as guests were greeted, seated, and served by youth and mentors. Other entertainment included performances by West Creek High School Step Team, the Distinguished Steppers Unlimited, Mercedes Johnson singing “Confidence” by Tasha Cobb, and a Youth Fashion Show organized by Sharon Edwards featuring fashions from local designers ELO.

Flourishing Families kicks off campaign to ignite change

 

Flourishing FamiliesClarksville, TN – This Campaign builds upon the upward trajectory of Flourishing Families decreasing the homelessness and unemployment in the Clarksville Community.

Flourishing Families is under the leadership of Breona Carter, now in her third year as Flourishing Families’ President. Clarksville’s Riverfest volunteer prize winner announced by Clarksville Parks and Recreation

 

2014 RiverfestClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is happy to announce the winners of the Riverfest volunteer prize.

The ROTC program at Austin Peay State University will be awarded the $500.00 cash prize for providing the highest number of volunteer hours served at the 2014 Riverfest celebration held September 5th and 6th at McGregor Park.

Flourishing FamiliesClarksville, TN – On Tuesday, July 8th, come out and join Flourishing Families at the Texas Roadhouse in Clarksville, TN for a Fundraising opportunity. When you eat at Texas Roadhouse on July 8th, 10% of the proceeds will come to Flourishing Families.
