Nashville Sounds return to First Tennessee Park for Eight Games Monday

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club returns to First Tennessee Park for a seven-day, eight-game homestand on Monday, July 16th, 2018.

The Sounds welcome the Omaha Storm Chasers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, for a four-game series from July 16th-19th before hosting the Oklahoma City Dodgers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, for a four-game series from July 20th-22nd, including a doubleheader on Saturday, July 21st.

Tennessee’s 20 Safest Cities of 2018

 

SafewiseSalt Lake City, UT – Tennessee may be home to some of the highest crime rates in the country, but as the latest FBI report details, it’s also home to safe havens. The database identifies more than twenty cities and towns with violent crime rates that fall below two per 1,000 people.

At the same time, all but three of those cities reported property crime rates below the national average.

APSU Governor’s School Duct Tape Boat stays afloat

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The mentors at APSU Governor’s School of Computational Physics floated an idea – use duct tape and PVC pipe to build a boat that could carry two people across a pool.

Lili Swann and Ward Jaeger accepted the challenge and succeeded.

APSU Football No. 25, Jaison Williams, Gunnar Scholato garner HERO Sports Preseason All-America honors

APSU FootballSeattle, WA – Jaison Williams and Gunnar Scholato are expected to anchor Austin Peay State University’s defense come fall as the football Govs hope to maintain not only consensus top-25 status but secure a berth in the FCS Playoffs for the first time in program history.

Tuesday, the duo were named HERO Sports FCS preseason All-Americans, with Williams earning second-team honors and Scholato a third-team honoree. In addition, the Governors were picked No. 25 in the HERO Sports FCS preseason poll.

APSU Women's GolfMuscle Shoals, AL – Frigid temperatures and windy conditions are nothing new for Austin Peay State University women’s golf. They’ve experienced those all spring.

And that experience proved to be beneficial Monday as they Govs opened up play at the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Women’s Golf Championships at the Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals Schoolmaster Course, Monday, to what has become the norm—high winds, low temperatures and slow-rolling greens.

APSU Men’s Golf sits in Second heading into final round at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

APSU Men's GolfSevierville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s golf shaved 11 strokes off its round-one score to position itself for a final-round push at the sixth annual Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, hosted by Tennessee Tech at Sevierville Golf Club’s River Course.

A second-round 279 tied the Govs with Carson-Newman for second place (290-279—569), five shots behind tournament leader Eastern Kentucky.

APSU Men's GolfBrentwood, TN – Sophomore Austin Lancaster, of the Austin Peay State University has been named adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week.

The Hendersonville, TN native carded three-round, five-under par 211 (70-74-67) to tie for second at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate as the Governors picked up their first win under head coach Robbie Wilson.

F&M Bank Tops Montgomery County and Stewart County Market Share Rankings Again

 

F&M BankClarksville, TN – During a 12-month period when Montgomery County’s total bank deposits jumped by $175.8 million, F&M Bank remained in the top position among FDIC-insured banks with a 19.01% market share.  It is the 14th consecutive year that F&M has maintained its market-leading ranking.

The fact that seven of the 11 Montgomery County banks have 10% or more of deposit market share underscores the extraordinary competitiveness within the market.

The updated market share reports – recently posted on the FDIC website – are based on federally insured deposits of banks and thrifts through June 30th, 2017.
