Nashville Predators defeat the Ottawa Senators 3-2

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators picked off the Ottawa Senators tonight at Bridgestone Arena and gathered up two valuable points in the process, 3-2.

Nashville, trying to fight their way into the wild card race for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, used the power play to their advantage, and held off a decimated Senators squad for the win.

Ottawa drew first blood though in this one, as Thomas Chabot scored at 4:53 of the opening period, grabbing a loose puck from the circle and beat Juuse Saros in net for the Predators for the 1-0 lead.

Nashville Predators defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets in shoot-out victory 4-3

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators hold on to defeat the Columbus Blue Jackets in a shoot-out, 4-3.  Rocco Grimaldi scored the decisive goal in the 8th round of the shoot-out for the win.

The Predators were coming off of a tough loss last night in Chicago and blew an early two goal lead to hang on for the win.  Columbus fought a valiant fight, considering that half of their team is on injured reserve.

Ryan Johansen and Mikael Granlund gave the Predators a 2-0 lead after the first period, with Johansen scoring just 33 seconds into the contest, while Granlund extended the Nashville lead at 10:31.

Nashville Predators defeat the New York Rangers 5-2

 

Nashville PredatorsManhattan, NY – The Nashville Predators began a four game road trip with a big win over the New York Rangers tonight at Madison Square Garden, 5-2.  The Predators were outshot by the relentless Rangers, 41-24, but were able to make their chances count in the victory.

Juuse Saros started in goal for the Predators tonight and blocked 39 shots.  Nashville needs to refresh their browser on this season if they expect to make the playoffs, coming off of a embarrassing loss to the Dallas Stars on Saturday night.

Nashville Predators fall to the Los Angeles Kings 7-4

 

Nashville PredatorsLos Angeles, CA – It looked like the Nashville Predators were poised to make another dramatic comeback today against the L.A Kings, only to fall short in a wild “Hollywood” affair, 7-4.

Nashville drew first blood at 4:55 of the opening period when Mikael Granlund netted a goal over the shoulder of Kings goaltender Jack Campbell and the Predators took a 1-0 lead.

That’s when the Kings took over the game.  L.A outworked the Predators through the first two periods and into the second intermission, were leading Nashville 4-1.

Nashville Predators defeat Minnesota Wild 5-2

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, Tn — The reigning Western Conference Champion Nashville Predators had to dig themselves out of a two goal deficit tonight to defeat the Minnesota Wild, 5-2.   In the much anticipated home opener, featuring more firepower in the line-up, Preds fans were feeling the excitement at puck drop.

Of course, it didn’t hurt when Keith Urban performed during the first intermission, keeping the Smashville faithful on their feet until the start of the second period.

Nashville Predators take division lead with win over the L.A. Kings 2-1

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators played like gangbusters for the first two periods of hockey tonight, then had to hold on for the win against the L.A Kings, 2-1.  With the win, the Predators take over first place in the Central Division of the Western Conference. 

The Kings suffer their sixth loss in a row and are reeling towards the end of their season, as Nashville was expected to have little trouble with L.A tonight.

Kyle Turris got things started for Nashville at 8:50 of the opening period taking a cross ice pass from Filip Forsberg and blasting the one-timer past Kings goalie Jonathan Quick for the early 1-0 lead.

Nashville Predators fall at home to the Dallas Stars 3-1

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators fell to the Dallas Stars tonight, 3-1, unable to pull off back-to-back wins, after last night’s victory against the Florida Panthers.

On a night that honored former Predator Jordin Tootoo, the Predators were unable to crack the Dallas defense, specifically the goaltending of their back up goalie, Anton Khudobin.

The first goal of the night was scored by Calle Jarnkrok at 9:35 of the first period, who ripped a shot from the circle past Khudobin for the early 1-0 lead.  It would be the only score of the night for Nashville.

Nashville Predators fall to Anaheim Ducks in shootout loss 2-1

 

Nashville PredatorsClarksville, TN – The Nashville Predators fell to the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 in a game that went to a shootout after the two teams were tied 1-1 through the overtime period.

The Predators had seven power plays on the night and couldn’t convert on any of those opportunities. 

The power play continues to plague Nashville and it was the teams weak link tonight.

Nashville was playing without one of its stars, Viktor Arvidsson who was a recovering from a hit he received during Saturday’s Dallas Stars victory.

Nashville Predators defeat San Jose Sharks 5-3

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – They don’t get any easier at this stage of the NHL season, but the Nashville Predators, behind goalie Juuse Saros, gutted out the win over the San Jose Sharks at Bridgestone Arena, 5-3 tonight. 

The win prevents the Sharks from clinching a playoff spot. 

Back up goalie Juuse Saros, who started in place of Pekka Rinne, put on a clinic in goal with 39 saves. 

The win gives Nashville 111 points on the season as their quest for the President’s Trophy continues.  Players and coaches have made no secret that they want that trophy and with it, home ice for the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Nashville Predators defeat Anaheim Ducks 4-2 extend win streak to 10

 

Nashville PredatorsClarksville, TN – The Nashville Predators extended their franchise record win streak to 10 in a row with a hard fought win over the visiting Anaheim Ducks, 4-2 tonight at Bridgestone Arena.

In front of another sold out Smashville home crowd and the NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, the Predators fought off a furious Anaheim third period assault to clinch the victory.

Craig Smith got Nashville on the board first at 5:26 of the first period, with his wrist shot that beat Anaheim goalie John Gibson for the early 1-0 lead.  Smith was assisted by Kyle Turris and Ryan Hartman on the score.
