Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s Basketball Reunion will be held Saturday, February 20th, the same day the Governors play host to the Murray State Racers.

On the 20-year anniversary, APSU will honor the 1995-95 Governors and Lady Govs basketball teams, who captured Ohio Valley Conference championships that season. Under head coach LaDonna McClain, It was the Lady Govs’ first basketball championship. On the men’s side, it was fourth Governors championship, but first under head coach Dave Loos.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs Golf in sixth place after first round of F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate

 

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team finished the first round of the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate with two Top 5 scores. However, the Lady Govs still find themselves in a sixth-place tie heading into Tuesday’s final tourney round at the Clarksville Country Club.

APSU Lady Govs Golf loses close match to Murray State Lady Racers

 

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsHopkinsville, KY – Murray State edged Austin Peay State University 301-305 in a dual women’s golf match played Saturday afternoon at The Links at Novadell. The Lady Govs recorded four scores under 80 while Murray State had three . But the combination of Alli Weaver (71) and Delany Howsom (72) combined for 1-under par to push the Lady Racers to victory.

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsOhio Valley Conference Basketball ChampionshipNashville, TN – A day after erasing a 15-point deficit in the final nine minutes of regulation to defeat Morehead State in a double overtime thriller on the opening day of the OVC Women’s Basketball Championships, the Austin Peay Lady Govs found out just how difficult it can be to maintain a double-digit lead at the OVC Tournament.

After leading by 14 points late in the first half, the Lady Govs went icy cold down the stretch in the second half in a 90-73 loss to Murray State in the tournament quarterfinals Thursday.

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay Lady Govs won both meetings during the regular season with Murray State. The Lady Govs won a 71-63 decision, January 7th, in Clarksville. Austin Peay also won an 85-72 decision, February 13th, in Murray, KY. It  was the Lady Govs only double-digit margin of victory this season.

Senior Whitney Hanley averaged 24.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in the regular-season series. Junior Leslie Martinez averaged 14.5 points and a team-best 8.0 rebounds per game.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball gets big win at Murray State against the Lady Racers to end losing streak

 

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsMurray, KY – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team ended an eight-game losing streak with an impressive 85-72 Ohio Valley Conference victory against Murray State, Monday night at the CFSB Center.

Austin Peay (6-20, 3-10 OVC) scored a season-high 85 points thanks to a 53.8 percent (35-of-65) shooting effort that also was a season-best. The Lady Govs also were red-hot from outside, making 64.3 percent (9-of-14) of their three-pointers. Austin Peay also recorded a season-high in assists (20).

Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball travels to Murray to take on the Lady Racers Monday Night

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay begins a regular-season closing stretch of four games in 12 days when it travels to Murray State for a 7:00pm, Monday, contest. The Lady Govs won this season’s first meeting between the two teams, 71-63, January 7th. However, the two teams have gone in dramatically different directions since that meeting.

The Lady Govs will bring an eight-game losing streak into the contest and return to action following a six-day break after its 68-65 loss to Tennessee Tech, last Monday. Murray State has won seven of its 11 games since the first meeting and has won the first two games of its current four-game homestand.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball uses second half spark to take down the Murray State Lady Racers

 

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team used a 16-4 second half run to post a 71-63 come-from-behind victory against Murray State, Saturday, in Ohio Valley Conference action at the Dunn Center.

Trailing 40-34 with 11:26 remaining, Austin Peay scored 16 of the game’s next 20 points. Junior Leslie Martinez scored back-to-back fast break layups during the push, capped by junior Meghan Bussabarger’s conventional three-point play that gave APSU a 50-44 lead with 7:26 that they would not relinquish.
