Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – The Sounds were on the winning side of a tight game Tuesday night, stealing the series opener against the Cubs at Principal Park by a score of 3-2.

Both teams recorded just seven hits, but Nashville never trailed Iowa. Sounds pitching struck out 11 and never walked a batter at any point during the win.

The Sounds stayed on par with a season storyline by scoring a run in the first inning. Andy Parrino found himself in the leadoff spot for just the fourth time this year and made an impact right out of the gate with a double to left.  After a groundout advanced the shortstop to third, reigning PCL Player of the Week Ryan Roberts scored him with a sacrifice fly.

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Behind a seven-run 2nd inning, the Iowa Cubs handed the Nashville Sounds a 9-0 defeat at rainy First Tennessee Park on Tuesday night.

Clayton Richard was the story for Iowa in his I-Cub debut. The left-hander held Sounds hitters to just two hits over seven innings, getting the first nine Sounds hitters to ground out to begin the game.

The Sounds defense let Zach Neal down in the second inning, committing not one, but two errors. Iowa took advantage belting five hits, including back-to-back homers by Junior Lake and Javier Baez. The seven runs the Sounds surrendered were the most they have yielded in an inning this season.

Nashville Sounds’ Pat Venditte Tosses Season-High 5 K’s

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – Down 2-0, with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Iowa Cubs rallied to beat the Sounds 3-2 at Principal Park on Wednesday.

Sounds pitching held the Cubs to just two hits through eight innings of play. Ryan Verdugo pitched well on limited rest, yielding just one hit and striking out three over 4.1 innings. Switch pitcher Pat Venditte threw 3.2 scoreless innings of relief, surrendering just a double. He recorded a season-high five strikeouts and was in line to secure his second win.

Jason Rogers Paces 16-Hit Attack With Career-Best Four Hits

Nashville SoundsAlbuquerque, NM – The Nashville Sounds pounded out 16 hits, including 11 for extra bases, during their 9-3 victory over Albuquerque on Monday evening at Isotopes Park.

With the win, Nashville (70-59) remained one game behind first-place Memphis with 15 to play.

Third baseman Jason Rogers went 4-for-5 to pace the Nashville offensive attack, matching his career high for hits in a game (fifth occurrence). Hector Gomez, Sean Halton, and Matt Clark each plated a pair of runs for the Sounds in the win.

Nashville SoundsAlbuquerque, NM – The Nashville Sounds (69-58) rattled off 17 hits in Saturday night’s series opener at Isotopes Park to defeat the Albuquerque Isotopes, 8-3. The win, paired with Memphis’ win over El Paso, keeps Nashville tied with the Redbirds for first place in the division with 17 games to go.

Nashville jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning on five consecutive singles off of Isotopes starting pitcher Zach Lee (7-11).
