R.J. Corman Railroad Company acquires Nashville & Eastern Railroad Corp.

 

R.J. Corman Railroad Company 

Nicholsville, KY – R.J. Corman Railroad Company announced the finalization of an agreement to acquire the Nashville & Eastern Railroad Corp. (NERR), Nashville & Western Railroad Corp. (NWR), Transit Solutions Group, a commuter rail operation, and three related operating entities.

The closing is subject to customary regulatory approvals, and R.J. Corman is expected to take over operations in January 2019.

Vietnam Veterans of America held their annual Memorial Day Candlelight Vigil Sunday night, May 24th

 

Clarksville, TN – On Sunday, May 25th, the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 396 held their annual Candlelight Vigil to remember the men and women who were left behind in Vietnam when American forces withdrew in 1975.

It is a solemn occasion when a nation gathers together to honor its soldiers, those who lived to come home, but even more importantly those who did not.

National Weather Service issues Freeze Watch for Clarksville Montgomery County this Weekend

 

National Weather ServiceNashville, TN – The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a freeze watch for Clarksville-Montgomery County as well as parts of Middle Tennessee.

The watch is in effect from late Friday night through Saturday morning. A freeze watch has also been issued from late Saturday night through Sunday morning.

Overnight lows Friday night will get down to the upper 20s to around 32 for most of the area. Saturday night lows will be a bit colder from the mid 20s to around 30.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 396 holds annual Memorial Day Candle Light Vigil

 

Clarksville, TN – It is a solemn occasion when a nation gathers together to honor its soldiers, those who lived to come home, but even more importantly those who did not. The body of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Lawrence Woods was buried in Arlington National Cemetery on March 21st of this year. There are 27 remaining missing POW/MIA’s from the State of Tennessee. Each one was honored in a ceremony held in front of the William O. Beach Civic Center at Veterans Plaza in Clarksville Tennessee on Sunday evening.

The Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 396 holds this Memorial Day Vigil each year to remember the men and women who were left behind in Vietnam when American forces left that country in 1975.

Standing Stone State Park to Host National Rolley Hole Marbles Championship and Festival September 17th

 

29th Annual Event Draws Country’s Best Players to Tennessee 
 
Tennessee State ParksNashville, TN – Standing Stone State Park will host the National Rolley Hole Marbles Championship and Festival on Saturday, September 17th, drawing some of the country’s best players to Tennessee where they will match wit and skills in what is known as the world’s most challenging marble tournament.

In its 29th year, the event includes kids’ games, marble making, a swap meet, tournament play, demonstrations, live bluegrass music and food.

“The Rolley Hole is considered the Super Bowl of marbles,” said Shawn Hughes, park interpretive specialist and coordinator of the tournament.  “It’s one time a year that all the great marble shooters gather to become the stars of the show and battle for the elusive National Title.
