Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota, who finished his fourth NFL season, missed three total starts in 2018 due to injuries. Nevertheless, he posted his third consecutive winning record as a starter (7-6) and set the franchise single-season record with a 68.9 completion percentage.

Mariota’s 27 wins as a starting quarterback in his first four years with the club rank second in franchise annals behind only George Blanda’s 34 victories. Mariota is the fifth player in NFL history to record 12,000 passing yards (12,004) and 1,200 rushing yards (1,270) in his first four NFL seasons, joining Russell Wilson, Cam Newton, Jeff Garcia and Blake Bortles.

Tennessee Titans make Coaching Staff changes

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans hired Shawn Jefferson as Wide Receivers coach, George Henshaw as Tight Ends coach and Sylvester Croom as Running Backs coach.

Additionally, Dowell Loggains permanently moves to Offensive Coordinator from quarterbacks (moved for the final five games of 2012), Dave Ragone will move to Quarterbacks coach from Wide Receivers, Nate Kaczor moves to Special Teams coach from Assistant Offensive Line and Chet Parlavecchio moves to Linebackers coach from Special Teams Assistant.

The following coaches from 2012 will not be returning next season: Frank Bush (Linebackers), Alan Lowry (Special Teams), Jim Skipper (Running Backs) and John Zernhelt (Tight Ends). «Read the rest of this article»

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Titans (5-4) go on the road against an opponent from the NFC South for the second consecutive week, as they travel to face the Atlanta Falcons (5-4) on Sunday, November 20th. Kickoff at the Georgia Dome (capacity 71,228) is scheduled for 3:15pm CST. The time was changed to 3:15pm from its originally-scheduled time of noon CST.

Currently in second place in the AFC South after last week’s victory at Carolina, the Titans are looking to gain ground on the first-place Houston Texans, who are 7-3 entering their bye this week. Titans name Palmer Offensive Coordinator

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans named Chris Palmer as offensive coordinator.

Palmer has 20 years of NFL experience, including two seasons as the head coach for the Cleveland Browns and seven seasons as an offensive coordinator with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans. Last year, he was the head coach of the Hartford Colonials in the United Football League.

From 2007-09, Palmer was the quarterback coach for the New York Giants. He worked with Eli Manning during his tenure in New York and saw him post significant increases in his passer rating each year, including a career high 93.1 rating in 2009. The 2008 edition of the Giants captured Super Bowl XLII and Manning earned MVP honors for the game. Before joining the Giants, Palmer spent one season as the quarterback coach with Bill Parcells at the Dallas Cowboys. In his one season there, Tony Romo led the Cowboys to the playoffs in his first season as the starter. «Read the rest of this article»

Titans name Gray Defensive Corrdinator

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans named Jerry Gray as defensive coordinator.

Gray joins the Titans after spending one season as the secondary coach with the Seattle Seahawks. He spent five years as defensive coordinator with the Buffalo Bills from 2001-05. His defenses in 2003 and 2004 each ranked second in the NFL for yards allowed, and both were rated in the top 10 in points allowed. His 2004 defense led the NFL in takeaways with 39 and ranked fifth in red zone defense.

“Jerry has a number of qualities that I think are assets for this role: he played the game, he coached a position group and he has coordinating experience,” said Titans head coach Mike Munchak. “I respected him as a player and coach and he was someone that I knew right away that I wanted to talk to about the position. It was evident to me during interview process that he will fit well with us – he is familiar with our system and the type of players that we have on the roster.
