Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – For only the third time in program history, No. 1 Tennessee is set to compete in a top-5 matchup Saturday, taking on No. 5 Kentucky on the road in Rupp Arena.

Saturday’s game marks the first meeting of two top-five SEC teams since March 8th, 2003, when third-ranked Florida fell to second-ranked Kentucky, 69-67, in Gainesville. The game will tip at 7:00pm CT and will be televised on ESPN and can also be viewed online through WatchESPN. Fans can listen live on their local Vol Network affiliate to hear Bob Kesling and Bert Bertelkamp describing the action.

#15 Tennessee Vols Basketball takes down #24 Kentucky at Rupp Arena, 61-59

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsLexington, KY – A poised, all-around effort in the closing minutes lifted 15th-ranked Tennessee to a 61-59 victory over 24th-ranked Kentucky Saturday night at Rupp Arena. The Volunteers have now won six straight games and stand alone in second place in the Southeastern Conference standings.

The triumph was Tennessee’s fifth all-time win over the Wildcats at Rupp Arena (1977, 1979, 1999, 2006). It also gave the Vols (18-5, 8-3 SEC) their first regular-season sweep over Kentucky since the 1998-99 season.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsLexington, KY – Playing its best ball of the season, 15th-ranked Tennessee heads to Rupp Arena on Tuesday night, February 6th for a showdown with rival Kentucky. The game is set to tip at 6:00pm CT and will be televised on ESPN for “Super Tuesday.”

The Vols (17-5, 7-3 SEC) enter the contest as winners of their last five games and eight of the last nine. During the stretch, defense has been the key for UT’s success. Tennessee has held its opponents to under 65 points in each of the last seven outings and now ranks 6th in defensive efficiency in the KenPom rankings.

Tennessee Vols hold off Kentucky for 76-65 win at Thompson-Bowling Arena

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TNAdmiral Schofield scored 20 points and recorded nine rebounds to lead the 23rd-ranked Tennessee Volunteers to a 76-65 victory over No. 17 Kentucky on Saturday night at a sold out Thompson-Boling Arena.
 
The Vols (10-4, 1-2 SEC) shot 54 percent from the field in the second half while using a strong defensive effort to outscore the Wildcats (12-3, 2-1 SEC) in the final period, 47-28, and earn their first conference victory of the season. Grant Williams stepped up offensively down the stretch, scoring 16 of his 18 points in the second half on 7-for-9 shooting.

Tennessee (9-4, 0-2 SEC) is coming off back-to-back losses for the first time this season, most recently dropping a 94-84 contest to Auburn on Tuesday.
 
UT has several players who can provide a spark offensively on any given night, as Lamonte Turner (25) and Grant Williams (22) both eclipsed the 20-point margin against the Tigers earlier in the week.
