In 1970, upon the merger of the American Football League and the National Football League, the Steelers and then-Oilers began play in the newly-formed AFC Central Division.

Tennessee Titans lose to Pittsburgh Steelers at LP Field 27-24

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – Going into the 4th quarter, the Tennessee Titans (2-8) held a 24-13 lead over the Pittsburgh Steelers (7-4) at LP Field. However, the Steelers were able to score early in the 4th on two back to back drives to go ahead 27-24.

The Titans had the ball with a chance to tie or take the lead. However, after getting one first down, Tennessee was forced to punt the ball back to Pittsburgh.

It is the 77th all-time meeting between the former division rivals. Kickoff at LP Field (capacity 69,143) is scheduled for 7:30pm CST on Monday, November 17th.

ESPN will broadcast the game to a national television audience. The telecast can be seen locally in Nashville on WKRN News 2. Mike Tirico will handle play-by-play duties, while Jon Gruden provides analysis and Lisa Salters reports from the sidelines.

Tennessee Titans stun Steelers 16-9 in Pittsburgh

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – Football critics had the Pittsburgh Steelers winning this one. The Steelers had not lost a home opener since September 15th, 2002. The Tennessee Titans had other plans.

The game did not start well for Tennessee. During the opening kickoff, Pittsburgh kicker Shaun Suisham lands a kick on the Titans 1 yard line. Tennessee kick returner Darius Reynaud just crossed the plane of the goal line to retrieve the ball, where he took a knee in the end zone and gets tackled for a safety.

Kickoff at Heinz Field (capacity 65,500) is scheduled for 1:00pm EDT/noon CDT on Sunday, September 8th.

This week’s game will be televised regionally on CBS, including Nashville affiliate WTVF News-Channel 5. Ian Eagle will handle play-by-play duties while Dan Fouts provides analysis.

Tennessee Titans beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 26-23 at LP Field Thurday night

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – With 4:25 left in the fourth quarter, Matt Hasselbeck threw a short 5 yard touchdown pass to Kenny Britt to tie the game with the Pittsburgh Steelers at 23. On the change of possession, the Steelers started at their own 11 yard line.

Ben Roethisberger took the Steelers down to the Titans 36. Shaun Suisham attempted a 54 yard field goal but came up just short of the goal post.

Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin had this to day about the 54 yard field goal attempt. “He banged the other one before that pretty clean so I decided to give him a shot at it. I take the responsibility for the miss.” «Read the rest of this article»

Tennessee Titans see Pittsburgh Steelers game Thursday as a Challenge and Opportunity

 

Tennessee TitansNashville, TN – Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak said Monday that his team is treating Thursday’s matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers as a challenge and opportunity.

Munchak said he and the Titans are frustrated by their 1-4 start but focused on fixing the problems they’ve encountered so far and finding a solution in the 11 remaining games.
