Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball hosts Ole Miss

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee Lady Vols basketball (18-9, 8-6 SEC) is back at Thompson-Boling Arena on Thursday night for the final regular season home game. Ole Miss (7-20, 0-14 SEC) comes to town for a 6:02pm CT contest vs. the Lady Vols.

UT and the Rebels met in Oxford, MS, on January 9th, with the Big Orange cruising to an 84-28 victory in the Pavilion at Ole Miss.  This will mark the 56th contest in a rivalry that began in 1977. UT leads the series, 47-8, and has won 31 of the past 32.

The Lady Vols are tied for sixth place in the SEC standings with LSU at 8-6, residing two games ahead of Alabama, Florida and Georgia (6-8). Arkansas and Kentucky are a game ahead in a tie for fourth (9-5).

Austin Peay State University Student-Athletes finish fall semester with record 3.110 GPA

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – An impressive fall semester for Austin Peay State University’s student athletes translated into the classroom with the department’s varsity teams posting a record 3.110 grade-point average for the Fall 2017 semester.

The department saw a record 204 student-athletes receive academic recognition during the recently concluded fall semester. Records also fell with the total number of athletes named to the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll (97), earning Austin Peay dean’s list recognition (107) and posting a perfect 4.0 GPA during the semester (51).

Murray State earns spot in OVC Volleyball finals with victory over Eastern Illinois

 

2017 OVC Volleyball ChampionshipClarksville TN – Third-seeded Murray State defeated seventh-seed Eastern Illinois, Friday, November 17th, 2017 at the Dunn Center, to advance to the Ohio Valley Conference Volleyball Tournament finals with a 3-1 (21-25, 26-24, 25-19, 25-17) victory.

Much like their quarterfinal match, Murray State (22-8) got off to a slow start despite jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead before Eastern Illinois (15-15) rallied back to take a 7-4 lead.

First, the OVC-leading Govs will face a fast-rising Eastern Illinois squad in a 7:00pm, Friday contest at Lantz Arena. Austin Peay then meets second-place SIU Edwardsville in a pivotal 2:00pm, Saturday showdown at the Vadalabene Center.

Austin Peay State University Women’s Soccer loses at home to Belmont

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – On a night so cold even Austin Peay’s Canadian contingent seemed to feel it, Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team saw its 2014 season come to a close with a 4-2 loss to Belmont at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field.

The Lady Govs conclude 2014 with a 4-13-1 mark (3-6-1 OVC), mired in a three-game losing streak to close the campaign. Belmont evened its record at 7-7-4 (4-4-2 OVC).

Second half goals give Lady Govs comeback win against Belmont

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Two second-half goals were the difference in Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team earning a 2-1 win against Belmont, Sunday, at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field.

“It was great second half effort,” head coach Kelley Guth said. “We made some adjustments at halftime and came out strong. Some players stepped up big in the second half and changed the game. This is a great positive to build on going into next week.”
