Scams Involving the Federal Reserve Name

 

Video Scam Targeting Federal Reserve Bank Routing Numbers; Prosecution Possible

Tennessee Department of Financial InstitutionsNashville, TN – Recently, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York became aware of a scheme promoted in online videos whereby individuals claim that U.S. citizens may make payments using fictitious accounts held at the Federal Reserve Banks. 

These fictitious accounts have been most commonly styled as secret accounts and/or Social Security trust accounts, and the individuals publishing the videos claim that substantial amounts are held within them for each U.S. citizen.

Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions takes Possession of Trust Company Bank in Memphis

 

Tennessee State GovernmentNashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions (“Department”) took possession of Trust Company Bank, Memphis, Tennessee at 4:00pm CDT on April 29th, 2016.

The Department has appointed the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (“FDIC”) as Receiver of the Bank effective upon the Department taking possession of Trust Company Bank.

Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions took possession of Trust Company Bank due to Trust Company Bank’s severely impaired capital, unsound condition and inability to continue normal operations.
