Marsha Blackburn Report: This Week From Washington – October 13th, 2019

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – I’ve had quite the week catching up with folks in fourteen different counties, all across our great state. Traveling hundreds of miles has allowed me to connect with Tennesseans and hear what’s on their minds.

My fellow Tennesseans have made one thing crystal clear: they are sick and tired of the partisan charades going on in Washington. It was refreshing to hear from local leaders about the real issues our communities are facing, as opposed to the latest outrage overtaking Washington.

Senator Marsha Blackburn.

My Two Cents: Nashville Predators Win Western Conference Championship

My Two-Cents with Hank BonecutterNashville, TN – It was an amazing night to be at the Bridgestone Arena tonight as the Nashville Predators defeated the Anaheim Ducks, 6-3, to win the Western Conference Championship.  The Predators now await the winner of the Pittsburgh/Ottawa series to see who they will play.

THIS IS FOR LORD STANLEY’S CUP!  THE MOST REVERED TROPHY IN ALL OF SPORTS!

The arena was sold out.  The grounds surrounding the Bridgestone Arena were packed with, by some estimates, 5,000-10,000 fans watching the game on the big screens that were placed all around the arena.

Chris Janson Leads a Youth Movement at the Grand Ole Opry

Grand Ole OpryNashville, TN – On Friday January 6th, 2017, Chris Janson headlined a Grand Ole Opry concert that featured both young and senior musicians. It was a bitter cold, snowy night in Nashville, Tennessee but that did not stop an almost capacity crowd from going to the Opry at the legendary Ryman Auditorium.

The Grand Ole Opry has a strong tradition of introducing up-and-coming artists on their famous radio show and stage. The Opry’s four sets are a combination of well-established Opry members and next wave artists who are hoping to join that exclusive circle. Many of the newcomers commented on how they grew up listening to the now longest-running radio program and mentioning that it’s a dream come true to play at the Opry.
