APSU Men's Basketball - Austin Peay State UniversityBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team junior guard Josh Robinson has been named first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference via a vote of league coaches and sports information directors.

A St. Louis native, Robinson averaged 20.3 points per game—the first Governor since Drake Reed (2008-09) to average 20 per contest for an entire season—to finish third in the league.

APSU Men's Basketball - Austin Peay State UniversityDayton, OH – Unable to solve a red-hot Dayton offense, Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team lost Friday’s season opener against the Flyers, falling 96-68 despite 26 points from junior Josh Robinson.

The Governors fell behind early due to a combination of cold shooting—the Govs missed nine of their first 11 shots–and Dayton’s Charles Cooke scored 14 of the Flyers first 20 points in the opening half.

Back in 2010-11 the Govs actually brought in seven, including Will Triggs, TyShwan Edmondson and Josh Terry.

Austin Peay Governors Basketball’s Travis Betran named APSU Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Junior guard Travis Betran, of the Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Betran averaged 22.5 points on 59.3 percent shooting (16 of 27) last week, leading the Govs to a win against Oakland City before falling to Memphis. The Harlem native is now averaging 19.6 ppg over the last six games.

Austin Peay State University GovernorsNashville, TN – For the first 35 minutes of Austin Peay Governor’s opening-round matchup against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks Wednesday night, TyShwan Edmondson and the Govs could do no wrong.

Unfortunately for the Govs, the Gamecocks played better over the game’s final five minutes, erasing a six-point deficit as Brian Williams buried a go-ahead 3-pointer with 33 seconds left and handed the Govs in a 75-70 loss in front of a stunned Municipal Auditorium crowd.

Governors clinch 6th seed in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament

Clarksville Sports NetworkClarksville, TN – Entering Saturday night’s regular-season finale against the Southeast Missouri Redhawks, the situation for Austin Peay Men’s Basketball was simple.

Win, and the Governors would clinch the No. 6 seed in next week’s Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Championship.

Lose, however, and things would get a little bit quirky.
