F&M Bank maintains market share top spot in Montgomery County and MSA

F&M BankAccording to reports just issued by the FDIC, F&M Bank has maintained its number one ranking for total deposits in Montgomery County for the sixth year in a row. F&M increased its market share in Montgomery County to 19.52% of total deposits, an increase of .56% over last year. According to the 2009 FDIC reports of deposits through June 30, 2009, Regions Bank ranked number two with 13.43%, while Legends Bank held the number-three position with 12.26%. Other banks with double-digit market share in Montgomery County include First Federal with 12.17%, U.S. Bank with 11.49% and Bank of America with 11.15%.

F&M Bank also maintained its number one deposit ranking for the entire Clarksville-Hopkinsville Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), which includes Stewart County, Tenn., and Trigg County, Ky. In 2009, F&M’s deposit market share rose to 13.74%, up from 13.65% in 2008. Planters ranks number two with 11.12% and Regions rose to 10.24%, taking the number three spot away from BB&T. Draughons Junior College hosts second career fair

draughonsDraughons Junior College in Clarksville hosted their annual career fair on June 5th. The event brings local agencies and employers together with hundreds of  people who are actively seeking employment.

Some like Barbara Lucas had been looking for work (in the legal field) for over 6 months. She is currently considering returning to school. Jonathan Ligon said he was laid off 5 months ago, since then he has been unsuccessfully looking for work as a welder.  Beverly Cossingham unemployed for five months, is looking for an administrative or clerical positions. However, Katie Nolan probably summed it up best.  “I am looking for anything at this point, anything”, she said.

Draughons Junior College hosting “Hot Jobs in the City” career fair

draughonsDraughons Junior College in Clarksville will be hosting “Hot Jobs in the City”, a Community Career Fair on Friday June 5th from 10:00a.m. – 2:00p.m. Refreshments will be served! Q108 and The Beaver 100.3 FM, will be hosting a live remote from 11a.m. – 1p.m with  door prizes being given away every 10 minutes.

The last four career fairs they have held have been a huge success with over 300 people in attendance.

Special Loan Program Available To Downtown Property Owners

ddplogoClarksville’s Downtown District Partnership has developed a loan program coordinated  through six Clarksville banks  that will make loans available to downtown property owners for exterior building improvements. The Facade Improvement Loan Program was announced on January 22 during the Ten Year Tornado Commemoration breakfast hosted by the DDP, however details of the program were still being finalized at that time.

According to DDP Chairman, Scott Giles, “The Downtown District Partnership has been in discussion with local lenders to get this program up and running and we’re delighted to have great support from our banking community.” The intent of the facade improvement program is to encourage businesses or residential property owners to work with the participating bank of their choice. Each of the six banks has committed to making $500,000 in funds available to loan. These funds are offered to borrowers at favorable rates for qualifying improvements. «Read the rest of this article»

Homeless man charged with aggravated robbery

A Clarksville man is being held on $100,000 bond on a charge of Aggravated Robbery  in connection with a robbery of  on Riverside Drive.

On March 9,  officers responded to an armed robbery of Regions Bank on Riverside Drive.  The suspect, later identified as Ronald William Bartlett Jr. (W/M), 33, listed as homeless, entered the bank, walked up to the teller, and passed her a note demanding money.  The teller said that Bartlett made a motion toward his pocket, making the teller believe that he was armed.  Bartlett took the money and fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.  A witness followed Bartlett and saw him get into a car parked at a nearby business.  «Read the rest of this article»
