Nashville Heart Walk one month away

Event will kick off Walk Nashville Week

American Heart Association - Heart WalkNashville, TN – In just one month, on Saturday, October 1st, more than 10,000 walkers will hit the streets for the American Heart Association’s Nashville Heart Walk at Vanderbilt University.

This year, the event will also mark the official start of Walk Nashville Week – a week celebrating and promoting walking in daily life and – naturally – walking throughout Nashville.

The Heart Walk is a non-competitive, fundraising walk including teams from local companies, community groups, and friends and family members of all ages. Funds raised go to research, education and community health initiatives. There will be tons of festivities, music and kid-friendly activities before the Walk starts. To sign up or to learn more about the Nashville Heart Walk, visit www.nashvilleheartwalk.org.

The Heart Walk also serves as a reminder that walking is one of the best forms of physical activity, key to heart health and combating conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity. Every hour of moderate to vigorous physical activity can result in two hours of additional lifespan.

The Heart Walk is part of the My Heart, My Life movement and is sponsored nationally by SUBWAY® Restaurants. In Nashville, My Heart, My Life is sponsored locally by Vanderbilt Heart. Local media sponsors include WKRN News2 and WRVW 107.5 The River.
