Nashville, TN – Antwaun Majors, who led Austin Peay State University’s defensive effort in limiting Eastern Kentucky to just 17 points, Saturday night, in the Govs’ 23-17 victory, has been named Ohio Valley Conference “Defensive Player of the Week.”
That was announced Sunday in a vote of the league’s sports information directors.
The Mt. Juliet native was credited with 11 tackles, including seven solo stops, in Saturday night’s victory. The 5-10, 179 pounder also helped thwart an Eastern Kentucky drive by intercepting a fourth-quarter pass at the Govs’ four-yard line.
The Govs’ free safety, who was the team co-leader in tackles a year ago, again leads the Govs in that category with 23 for the season. Majors, a former Mt. Juliet High School star, walked on at Austin Peay in 2008.
After snapping a 22-game losing streak against the Colonels just two years ago, Austin Peay now has handed the Colonels two straight losses in Clarksville.
