Louisville, KY – Sophomore Xiamar Richards finished eight to lead Austin Peay State University women’s cross country team to an impressive 11th-place finish at the massive Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic’s Blue Race, Saturday morning, at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
Richards posted the Lady Govs best finish at the Louisville race, completing the five-kilometer race in 18:23.07 to finish eighth in the 257-woman race. Junior transfer Chantelle Grey also added a top-50 finish, cross the line in 44th place with a time of 19:04.11.

Senior Janelle Avery (84th, 19:28.34) and sophomore Kendra Kirksey (97th, 19:36.69) also posted top-100 finishes to help the Lady Govs cause. Sophomore Miranda Week (156th, 20:16.69) rounded out Austin Peay’s top five runners. Junior Alyssa Molnar (210th, 21:23.08), sophomore Shannon Christian (244th, 23:12.10) and sophomore Kayla Satterly (247th, 23:21.16) also competed for the Lady Govs.
“The women are really starting to come along and understand what we are trying to do and what they are capable of,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “We’ve got more work to do, but we are definitely getting better. All of them ran season best or personal bests. Miranda is starting to hit her stride in the five spot so that was another good thing. So we had a lot of good come out of this meet.”
Austin Peay will look to maintain its momentum when it returns to Kentucky for next weekend at the Kentucky State Thorobreds Stampede, October 8th, in Frankfort.
