Austin Peay Governors Tennis to host Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, Friday

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis team hosts Western Kentucky in a 2:00pm, Friday match at the Governors Indoor Tennis Center.

“We are looking forward to renewing this rivalry with Western Kentucky,” head coach Malik Tabet said. “We’ve had some success against them in the past and I expect it to be very competitive. Our guys have played well and put in a lot work on getting better. I’m anxious to see their progress in match play.”

It will be the Governors first match since being picked to finish second in the Ohio Valley Conference’s preseason poll. Sophomore Jasmin Ademovic was picked as the league’s top individual player while junior Sean Bailey was ranked third overall.

Aside from Ademovic and Bailey, the Govs lineup is young, featuring freshmen in the bottom four spots. Dimitar Ristovski opened the season at No. 3 singles while Iago Seffrin played at No. 4. Tabet also is pleased with the depth provided by Aleksas Tverijonas and Michal Hriciste at the bottom two spots.

Western Kentucky dropped its season opener to Lipscomb, 6-1. The Hilltoppers were swept on the doubles side and dropped five of six singles matches. Lance Freeman picked up WKU’s only win at No. 3 singles.
