Troy, AL – Austin Peay women’s tennis team dropped a 5-2 match to Troy, Tuesday, at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. The Lady Govs fall to 2-8 overall while the Trojans improve to 3-4 with the win.

A point of emphasis for the Lady Govs during Spring Break was to improve on the doubles side and perhaps the lone bright spot from Tuesday’s match was in fact winning the doubles point. Senior Vanja Tomic and freshman Alison Carre needed a tiebreaker to win 9-8 at No. 1 to clinch the point after sophomore Andra Cornea and freshman Ornella Di Salvo won, 8-5, at No. 2.

On the singles side, Tomic was the only Lady Govs player to earn a win, which was her eighth-straight at No. 1 singles. Tomic is currently amidst a streak of seven straight-set wins. Carre won the middle set at No. 3 singles, but ended up falling in three sets.

Next for the Lady Govs is a Thursday match at South Alabama. The Jaguars are 5-4 overall being anchored good doubles and a strong bottom lineup. In fact, they are currently 15-1 at Nos. 5 and 6 singles, while posting a 5-1 mark when they win the doubles point.
