160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment Public Affairs
Fort Campbell, KY – Staff Sgt. Jonathan Wayne Presley, assigned to Company F, 1st Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) at Fort Campbell, KY was killed in a motorcycle accident, on April 24th, near Clarksville, Tennessee.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Presley, 37, a native of Willard, MO, joined the Army in September 2003.He completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, SC, and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, GA. His first assignment was with 1st Battalion, 52nd Aviation Regiment in the Republic of Korea as an avionic system repairer.
From there he transitioned to Fort Campbell, KY, where he assessed with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne). He joined 160th SOAR (A) in 2005, where he served as an avionic system repairer section sergeant. His deployments include four tours in Afghanistan and two in Iraq.

Presley’s military education includes Special Operations Training Course, Army Combatives level 1 and 2 Course, Warrior Leader’s Course, and Advanced Leader’s Course.
Prior to joining the Army, Presley served four years of active duty in the U.S. Navy with service aboard the USS John F. Kennedy in Mayport, FL.
His awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Army Good Conduct Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Navy Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with service star, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, the Iraqi Campaign Medal with three campaign stars, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Armed Forces Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with a Numeral 2 device, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon with a Numeral 2 device, and the U.S. Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
He is survived by his son Tyler, daughters Madalynn and Karley, along with his parents Stan Presley and Bonnie Cutler.
