Clarksville, TN – Overcoming rainy and windy afternoon conditions, Austin Peay State University women’s golf team eased past Tennessee State, 331-380, Sunday afternoon, in a dual match played at the Hermitage Golf Course.

Add that to the Lady Govs playing a course they had not seen before, it was understandable APSU’s score rose from 305 on Saturday to Sunday’s 331 round. The Lady Govs will play a third of three straight dual matches, 9:00am, Monday, when Belmont comes to The Clarksville Country Club.
“From tee to green (The Hermitage) played pretty straight up,” Robson said. “But the greens were pretty tricky. That is where playing experience is important.”
Senior Tabitha Beard led the Lady Govs team with a 79, followed by Jessica Cathey (82) and Rachel Deaton (87). Tala Mumford and Meghan Mueller finished with 87s.
Individually, Lauren Bond shot a 77 while Holly Batey had an 85.
“Believe me, Lauren and Tabitha rounds, shooting below 80, were good rounds in those conditions,” Robson said. “Rachel and Jessica struggled but they got it into the hole, minimizing big numbers.”
