Omaha, NE – Postseason accolades continue to flow in as Austin Peay State University closer Tyler Rogers was named a Rawlings Second-Team All-America pick by the American Baseball Coaches Association, Thursday.
In addition, infielders Jordan Hankins and Craig Massoni received Second-Team All-South Region honors.
Rogers tied the Division I single-season saves mark with 23 stops during the season, a mark that has since been tied by UCLA’s David Berg, the ABCA’s First-Team All-America pick. Rogers also compiled a 7-2 record and 1.63 ERA during the Govs record-setting 47-win season.
The Ohio Valley Conference’s Pitcher of the Year, he received First-Team All-South Region honors from the ABCA to earn nomination on the All-America Team.
Hankins, who has twice been named to an All-America team this postseason, was a Second-Team All-South Region selection at third base behind Mercer’s Chesny Young.
A 2012 and 2013 first-team All-OVC selection, Hankins played both second and third base in his junior campaign. He played 44 games at second base and 18 at third, including the season’s final 14 games, and posted a .352 batting average with 11 home runs and 54 RBI.
Massoni was named the OVC’s Player of the Year, the first Govs player to earn that honor since 1996. He finished the season just three RBI shy of claiming the OVC’s Triple Crown – leading the league in batting average (.385) and home runs (16) while ranking second in RBI (68).
Massoni ranks among Division I’s Top 10 in home runs (9th) and RBI (9th).
