Wags to Witches raises almost $13,000 for the Clarksville-Montgomery County Humane Society

Wags to Witches Fur Ball BashClarksville, TN – On Saturday, the Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County held their annual Wags to Witches Fur Ball Bash on Saturday, raising almost $13,000 that will go to help fund their operations over the coming year.

The Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County uses the funds to provide low-cost Spay/Neuter vouchers, Pet Fostering, along with  counseling and education services. They are also working to establish the first low cost Spay-Neuter clinic in our community which will help pet owners be able to afford to do their part in controlling the stray dog and cat population in the county.

The Riverview Inn ballroom was decorated with a twisted carnival theme, it looked like a scene right out of a old time carnival freak show, and the guests really fit the bill! It was great! Especially Keith Rogers who was dressed as the Terrifying Man-Eating Chicken and won the funniest costume for the evening.

The food was amazing and we have George Hartman and Chef Wendell Hensley along with the culinary experts from the American Culinary Federation of Clarksville along to thank. They were also assisted in the kitchen by folks from the Fort Campbell, KY Culinary Arts Team. The spread at Wags to Witches just can’t be beat and the food alone is worth the ticket price. Budweiser of Clarksville also provided a variety of Budweiser beers as free refreshments for those who attended.

The Mr. and Miss Wags to Witches Pet Photo Contest is one of the big money makers for the event . Pet owners who wish to participate submit photos of their pet for consideration which are placed on the Humane Society web site for public voting.

The top five male photos & top five female photos receiving the most donations are selected as the Finalists, and then are displayed at the Wags to Witches event where attendees can vote by placing a donation in that pets jar.

This year the pet photo contest this year it raised $4,104 and dog Richie was crowned as  Mr. Wags to Witches, and the Cat Shadow was named Miss Wags to Witches.

The top 10 pets will be featured in the Humane Society’s 2013 Calendar. Each month will feature a different contestant with Mr and Miss Wags to Witches together on the cover. Keep an eye on Clarksville Online for more information on how to order a calendar of your very own  as it becomes available.
