Cunningham, TN – The 106th annual Lone Oak Picnic begins tomorrow, July 26th, at 10:00am. In preparation for the event, Central Civitan Club members began cooking their pork barbeque Friday night at 6:00pm. In total, they are cooking 4 whole hogs and 30 shoulders. They will also cook around 200 chickens.
“We cook our barbeque the old fashion way on a pit,” stated Charlie Davis. “It’s really the only way to cook good barbeque.” Charlie and his brother Billy Davis will be overseeing the cooking overnight. By 8:00am Saturday morning, the pork barbeque will be done and ready to pull.

Come out and enjoy entertainment, meet candidates for public office, and purchase excellent chicken and pork barbecue. The picnic grounds are located between Hwy 13 and Alonzo Place in Cunningham, TN.
Parking is off of Alonzo Place. Admission is free.

Musical entertainment will be provided by father/son duo Donald and Lucian Greene, known as Back Lot Pickers. Their repertoire ranges from country to folk rock.
For the kids, there will be train rides and inflatables.
A car show will delight visitors of all ages. Candidates wishing to give brief speeches may register in the morning.
Expect to hear candidates from approximately 11:30am to 12:30pm.
In addition to Central Civitan’s famous barbecue, snacks, sodas, and ice cream will be for sale. Proceeds benefit community causes such as volunteer firefighting, schools, and youth programs.

This year’s picnic is dedicated to the memory of Lonnie Bumpus, longtime Montgomery County commissioner.
