Senior Erika Adams equaled her own school record in the 60m dash, hitting 7.65 to take first place and equal her run at Southern Illinois in February.

Junior Kymmalett Ross was one-hundredth of a second off her personal-best, finishing second at 7.68.

Ross later crushed her personal-best in the 400m dash, hitting 56.44 to finish third. Sophomore Terri Morris also earned a top-five in the 400m, placing fifth with a 57.70 run.

Kymmalett wasn’t the only Ross to post a solid result on Thursday. Her sister Keyondria, a freshman, placed fourth in her first career meet with a 1.61m leap.

Among other freshmen in their first collegiate indoor action, freshman Sarah-Emily Woodward stood out with a fourth-place finish in the mile with a 5:26.70 run.

Well-known for her jump and multi-event prowess, sophomore Amia Butler displayed her talents in the hurdles as well on Thursday, placing fifth in the 60m hurdles with a personal-best 8.76 run – better than any time posted by a Lady Gov a year ago.

Austin Peay’s triple jumpers picked up right where they left off last season. Sophomore Kaylnn Pitts led the Lady Govs and placed fourth overall with an 11.94m leap, while classmate Chancis Jones was right behind her in fifth with an 11.92m mark.

Austin Peay athletes shined in other events not recognized in the NCAA lists, with senior Jessica Gray posting a school-record run in the 1000m, taking runner-up – and becoming the first APSU athlete to break three minutes in the event – with a 2:59.92 run. Junior Breigh Jones raced out to a 1:33.88 and runner-up honors in the 600m event, a final tune-up before her season debut in her specialty, the 400m dash.

Jones is scheduled to make her 400m debut in Austin Peay’s next event, Saturday’s Middle Tennessee Christmas Invite, hosted by Middle Tennessee at the Murphy Center.
