Greg Day, president of the company, shared what the company did to earn their certification. “Although our company was already doing quite a bit to practice conservation, the local green certification program helped me evaluate additional opportunities for improvement.”

“We had a rooftop sprinkler system, solar thermal windows, occupancy sensors, were using permanent pallets, practicing some recycling and were reusing all material from our process. We’ve added energy efficient lighting which greatly reduced our energy costs, installed factory zone lighting, reduced costs through evaporative cooling, increased recycling for difficult to place byproducts, programmed the thermostats; and reduced the excess material waste from our process. We are pleased with the changes we’ve made,” said Day.

McMillan asked, “Do you feel it is ‘making a difference when employees leave here and go home?”

“Yes I believe it makes a difference. We encourage personal responsibility to achieve responsible environmental behavior in and outside the plant, one way we do that is by offering employees the opportunity to bring their recyclable items from home to our recycling containers at work,” responded Day.

Avanti manufactures high quality engineered non-woven fabrics that are used in a variety of industries including; filtration, automotive, agricultural and landscaping. Visit for more information about the company.
