Nashville Goes 1-for-7 With Runners In Scoring Position

Nashville SoundsOklahoma City, OK – The Nashville offense stalled on Monday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark and the Sounds three-game winning streak was snapped in the 5-3 defeat at the hands of the Oklahoma City Dodgers.

Both teams managed just four hits apiece and fell prey to strong pitching. The Sounds worked just one walk and it was the first time in the early season that the team failed to collect a double-digit hit total.

The Sounds jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage in the first. Leadoff man Billy Burns worked a walk and stole second base.

The speedy outfielder came around to score when Max Muncy hit a ball into the right field corner that went for a double. Muncy scored two batters later when Bryan Anderson reached on an error.

The home team got it right back in the bottom of the second, scoring twice thanks to a Buck Britton triple that plated two.

Nashville did well to respond though. They took the lead again in the third when Andy Parrino went big fly for his second home run in the last two games. The score stood at 3-2 after three innings.

Oklahoma City would not be outdone however, scooting three runs across in the fourth all off Sounds’ starter Brad Mills. The left-hander would suffer the loss in his season debut, surrendering five earned runs on four hits. Mills walked five and struck out four in the series opener.

Switch-pitcher Pat Venditte made his team-leading third appearance in the game, working 2.1 scoreless innings in relief. The veteran did not allow a hit and fanned three. Brock Huntzinger struck out all three batters he faced and Eury De La Rosa also added a perfect frame in the loss.

Nashville and Oklahoma City will collide again tomorrow night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Right-hander Chris Bassit (0-1, 7.20) will face Jeff Baker (0-1, 1.80) in the 7:05pm CST contest.
