Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan shares award with Businesses, Staff

Clarksville Mayor highlights Partner America resources

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan accepted the Partner America Small Business Advocate Award on behalf of “all the City’s small businesses and all the City departments that make good things happen for Clarksville’s citizens and businesses.”

The United States Conference of Mayors and the Partner America Program presented McMillan the award at a reception Wednesday at the Wilma Rudolph Events Center in recognition of her dedication to Clarksville’s small business community.

“The best thing about this award is that Partner America is arming us with more knowledge,” McMillan said. “They are offering resources that can be used by Clarksville’s small businesses, so I hope local businesses and entrepreneurs take advantage of this opportunity.”

The event also featured a keynote presentation by Dr. Mickey Hepner, new dean of the College of Business at Austin Peay State University. Hepner, who started at APSU in January after a strong tenure at Central Oklahoma University, told the group that he had been quickly impressed with the Clarksville business community’s energy and entrepreneurial spirit.

Partner America is a public-private partnership created by the United States Conference of Mayors and American Management Services. Curtis Cello, AMS Director of Field Services, explained the program helps Mayors provide resources and information to help small businesses improve profits and sales through management assistance.

The U.S. Conference of Mayors and Partner America honored Mayor McMillan for her holistic approach to Small Business advocacy and development.

“Mayor McMillan has strongly supported small and local business in the Clarksville community to boost the local economy and preserve Clarksville’s neighborhoods,” said Jeff Bean, Managing Director at USCM, in presenting the award Wednesday.
