APSU Women's BasketballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s basketball team looks to continue its perfect start to conference play by hosting Morehead State, 1:30pm, Saturday, January 5th.

The Governors (6-6, 1-0 OVC) are looking to go 2-0 for the first time in conference play since head coach David Midlick‘s first season in charge in 2015-16.

The APSU Govs throttled Eastern Kentucky in the Ohio Valley Conference opener, 100-65, scoring 100 points for the first time in an OVC contest since January 7th, 2002 against Eastern Illinois.

The Govs rebounded from an early seven-point deficit in the first quarter to take a resounding 24-point lead into halftime.

From there, the Govs continued to dominate, winning by 35, the largest margin of victory since last season’s 97-61 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

When you score 100 points, there are plenty of individual accolades and the Govs will look to build on that going into the bulk of the conference season. Gabby Gregory scored a career-high 20 points, all of which came in the second half, in just 12 minutes of play.

Keisha Gregory’s third triple of the night gave her 100 career made three-pointers and she currently ranks fourth all-time in three-point percentage. Nieja Crawford recorded her third career double-double, all coming this season, with a 10 point and 11 rebound performance. Crawford has now grabbed at least 10 rebounds in three straight games.

About the Morehead State Eagles

The Eagles (10-4, 1-0 OVC) boast one of the most potent offenses in the country, averaging 84.7 points a game and have four players who score at least 10 points a game. The Eagles rank in the top 10 in the country in scoring offense and turnover margin and also rank in the top 15 in assists and steals per game.

Aliyah Jeune leads the Eagles in scoring with 19.5 points per game, even though she only plays 24 minutes a game. Miranda Crockett also averages 18.3 points per game to go along with a stellar 50 percent shooting percentage from the field. Crockett also leads the team in rebounding, pulling down seven a game. Both Jeune and Crockett have won an OVC Player of the Week award this season, with Jeune also adding two OVC Newcomer of the Week honors.

Morehead State comes off a comfortable 83-61 win on the road at Murray State. The Govs are 4-4 against the Eagles in the last eight meetings, but the Eagles have won the last two and the Govs have not beaten the Eagles at home since the 2011-12 season.

The Eagles defeated the Govs, 66-59, in the Dunn Center last season. Crockett had 21 points in that game, as the Govs will look to contain her on the inside.
