APSU Women's BasketballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s basketball team looks to rebound after its first Ohio Valley Conference loss of the season, traveling to UT Martin, 1:00pm, Saturday, January 12th.

The Governors (7-7, 2-1 OVC) come off a disappointing loss to Southeast Missouri in their OVC road opener.

The Govs led by as many as eight in the third quarter before falling late.

The Govs were led by OVC Co-Player of the Week Keisha Gregory, who led the team with 13 points. Myah LeFlore also had 13 points while Arielle Gonzalez-Varner had eight rebounds and nine points, close to a double-double.

With the loss, the Govs slip to a tie for second at 2-1 in the OVC with four other teams. Tennessee Tech is the lone unbeaten team left in conference play at 3-0, while Eastern Kentucky is the only team without a win in conference play.

About the UT Martin Skyhawks

The UT Martin Skyhawks (10-4, 2-1 OVC) have won five of their last six games, including their two most recent OVC contests. The Govs will be facing a tough challenge as they look for their first road win, as the Skyhawks are unbeaten at home.

The Skyhawks boast one of the most explosive offenses in the country, averaging just over 83 points a game. The Skyhawks are led in scoring by Chelsey Perry, averaging 11.5 points a game. Damiah Griffin is not far behind her, as she pours in 11.2 points a game. Emanye Robertson, the minutes leader for UT Martin, also averages double-digits at 10 points per game. All three players shoot over 43 percent from the field as well.

The Govs are 3-3 against the Skyhawks in the last six matches, but have not beaten them on the road since the 2009 season. The Govs and Skyhawks split last season, with the Skyhawks winning the meeting in Martin, 100-66.
