Bowling Green, KY – Outfielder Skyler Luna posted three RBI but it wasn’t enough as the Austin Peay State University (APSU) baseball team dropped its first road game of the season, 10-5, against Western Kentucky, Tuesday afternoon at Nick Denes Field.
Austin Peay State University (3-5) broke through first thanks to Luna’s bat, his groundout to short in the second giving shortstop Bobby Head the opportunity to score from first base.
Luna would add a RBI singles in both the fourth and eighth innings as part of his 2-for-4, three RBI day.
Western Kentucky (6-2) used patience at the plate to take the lead in its half of the second inning. The Hilltoppers saw four of their first five batters earn a walk, right fielder Eric Riffe tying the game with his bases loaded free pass. Second baseman Jack Wilson added a two-run double and would score on an error, giving WKU a 5-1 lead.
The APSU Governors would climb back into the game in the fourth, with the first four batters of the inning reaching base safely. Luna’s single would drive in a run before WKU traded two outs for a run.
